Focus RS or VXR8?
Hi all, I am considering a new car in October. Does anyone have any information about the lead times of the Focus RS? I'm weighing this up versus the Vauxhall (ahem, Holden) VXR8 which is now available from several dealers for £26k.
Any VXR8 or RS owners here? Performance-wise the VXR8 wins but the running costs (18mpg anyone?) seem off-putting.

Two completely different cars aimed at a different markets. One is a very fast relaxed Grand, tourer, the other is a focused hot hatch. It all depends what you want but for me it would be the supercharged VXR8, but i'm 40 and that is the market its aimed at.0

Everyone knows what a focus RS is, the Holden's much more interesting and unusual. Its a 4 door so is more practical and is faster, although the joke mpg is a bit of a drawback. You could always convert it to LPG?0

This one is a bit of a bargain....

Oh come on, its a boring family car with a bodykit. The VXR8 just looks like something else... But the focus is still nice. Better than the megane R26R (top gear anyone?).0

i doubt the focus RS will offer much better fuel consumption than the vxr8. well if your buying a fast car like this then i would imagine you would like to enjoy driving it the way its meant to be driven. so 18mpg is probably being a bit generous to either. i know the focus ST struggled to get any better than 25 mpg.
if i were you and fuel consumption was my main worry i would be looking at buying a diesel.
but if i wasnt i would take the focus any day of the week over the vxr8. it will hold its money better than the vxr8 aswell....work permit granted!0 -

Coming from someone who obviously hasn't driven one or been in one.. :rotfl:
I wouldn't call it nice either .. its a bit of an animal ..
I still have only seen one other......... yet to see a blue one.
I can't comment on the Vauxhall - as I haven't seen one or driven one. But it looks good in the pic I found, bit like an Evo or old shape Scooby.Genie

Well they are limited and Fords say they are not making another RS so that would hold the price up there. Not sure if there is still a long waiting list - which could be the decider for the OP. If he is looking at October, I know that orders placed for the RS in March were due delivery Sept/Oct.Genie

Evo have both a Focus RS and a Focus ST Mountune as test cars. And they reckon the ST Mountune is faster than the RS, although the RS is much better around corners. The man without a signature.0
