also told out families yesterday... mine were fine but have got 3 grandchildren already. his mum said "oh my god you must be joking I'm not old enough to be a grandparent" for about 10mins non-stop (she'll be 50 when it's born!!) and after shock her and FIL were happy enough. V glad to have got that over with! And DD is pleased, wants a sister but "will still love a brother" bless her
Glad it went well telling them:)
I managed to get hold of my mum today to tell her...she was pleased, albeit a bit shocked at first. Just need to tell MIL, which we may phone her later or may tell her on Friday when she comes to babysit for us.SkintGypsy wrote: »Hello Peeps!
So, I caved. I booked a private scan yesterday cos my NHS scan is two and a half weeks away and I had a strange fear that there would be nothing in my ever increasing belly! Went first thing this morning and all is well. Extremely well. Am 11 weeks 3 days, and due on 17th May. Can someone add me onto the list please?
Also, the scan lady said she thinks its a girl; she showed us the bits that lead her to this conclusion. She reckons she is 70% sure. Isn't that far too soon?
Anywho, am delighted and just wanted to share!

Oh Wow that is excellent, It is possible to tell gender from an early age if you know what to look for, although the earlier the less acurate..
I haven't had a date for my dating scan yet....I am hoping I won't have to wait long for it though...going by my LMP I am 11wks on Friday, but I have gone for a week less as I am sure that I am not quite that far along.

Thanks kindof. It's on Discovery Home and Health (Sky 254), but I'm watching it recorded cos I put it on series link!
Baby is moving loads today. Probably noticed more as I've not got up from bed or sofa all day. Quite a lot of kicking but tons of moving position cos bits go hard for a bit then go soft again. Can get slightly uncomfortable at times, anyone else find this?0 -

Glad your scan went well! I've never heard of anyone finding out the possible sex at a scan that early, but I'm sure she wouldn't have said if she wasn't fairly sure. She's got a 50% chnace of being right I guessSarah_Joanne wrote: »Gypsy congrats! Glad all was well. As MGEB has said, 11 weeks is prob too early to tell according to everything I've read. All babies will look like girls on the scan at this point I think, so I wouldn't buy too much pink stuff just yet!
So, swimming breast stroke isn't recommended due to kicking your legs so far apart, if I'm sat with my feet touching but knees bent and basically legs akimbo is this a bad idea? I can't get comfy today and keep finding myself like this and feeling like I should move.
SJ I think it's fine to sit how you want as long as it's comfy for you. You're hips will soon let you know if it's going to cause you a problem. I actually find swimming breast strok as long as I take it really slowly. I think it's just a case of listening to your body really.
We've just been to Boots for their Christmas shopping evening where you get £12 of points for spending £50. Got a combination of essential toiletries, Christmas pressies and nappies (which are 3 for 2 so work out a very good buy). I love having loads of points on my card!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

Thanks GISI, I'll go back to sitting like that if it's comfy then!
That Boots event is good, I got a thing through the post about it but don't think I'll make it there now. It's not online either is it?0 -
Evening all, hope everyone is well.
I've had a crap day today didn't realize i had so little sleep last night just thought i was having a slow morning but i got slower as the day went on. Never got a thing done at dads today but he didn't care he was a bit under the weather too. So we went and got some bits that we will need shortly, had to make a detour to the garage that dose our MOTs as mums car started thumping and the wheel would pull back suddenly when you took a corner.
Turned out that whatever garage the car place put mums car had fitted the wrong ball joints on the car creating the slip when the wheel turned or you hit the brakes hard.(dad says i'm marvelous as i said either ball joints or suspension lol) So her car is booked in the garage next week and the guy will go through it properly just in case any other replacement parts have been used, not taking the chance after that mum has no idea about cars and would just keep driving. We trust that garage lol
Sis didn't do so well today she didn't even manage an hour off the ventilator. But she did manage to write a couple of notes for us to read, took ages to understand as the morphine has made her think the letters are different to what she actually wrote.
On the swine flu jag their is no way in hell they are giving me that jag, it hasn't been correctly tested IMO for any one never mind pregnant women.
Hope to get a good nights sleep tonight and actually get something more constructive done.[STRIKE]Little bump 3 on it's way[/STRIKE]:j

Hello everyone - another mammoth catching up session! I'm off tomorrow so should be able to keep up and answer a few more posts!
MGEB - I would be fuming if I generously lent someone all that stuff and they gave it away without asking first.
skintgypsey - so pleased to hear your scan went well. Must be a huge load of your mind.
jopsey - keep us posted with your results. Keeping everything crossed for you.
Hugs and labour vibes to anyone who needs them. I've had a chinese for tea and eaten way too much so feeling very full and sleepy at the moment so I'm sorry to everyone I've missed!
I really want a galaxy now - you lot are terrible!! (and I'm way too easily influenced lol) I have twirls and chocolate buttons in the fridge and a toffee apple and a chocolate apple but none of them will do now - must be galaxy lol. Might see if DH will go to the shop for me but feel a bit mean as he;s going back to work and 10 and working most of the night (he's done a full day as well!)Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0
