    morning kindof

how often do you do washing?

When I had dd I think i need a few more vest and sleepsuits than that because I only did washing once a week. Now with 4 of us in the house i do washing nearly every other day and so could probably manage with just a handful of each. Vests normally go under everything so put vest on then sleepsuit or outfit. Unless its a heatwave like when my ds was born in which case its probably just a vest. Newborn is slightly smaller than 0-3 months, I only bought 11lb newborn things and mine teneded to be in them about 1-2 weeks before 0-3 month fitted better.

Whats the difference between newborn and 0-3 months? also I only have about 6 babygrows (with the legs) do I need more? I have a lot of vests, but I am confused as to what baby wears with the vests? God I sounds useless :rotfl:

    hiya kindof :)

newborn tends to fit from 6.5lb to 11lb ish (for us up to 4-5 weeks old) and then 0-3 kicked in. If you have a large baby you might skip the newborn stage, but that's rare and the MWs will probably say if you're on for a large baby.

If baby is very little then there are tiny baby clothes, suitable for example for premature babies.

vests we tend to use under a sleepsuit for the night in this weather, and under t-shirt/jumper and trousers in the day. They say that baby should wear an extra layer than mum is wearing as a rule of thumb, so I mentally use the vest as the extra layer, IYSWIM?

    you don't sound useless :)

    xxx

edit: sorry Merfe, crossed posts! I agree with what you've said too!

Thats a really good point Merfe, I Only do washing twice a week (3 times when I do the towels lol) cos I do a dark wash (mainly my work clohtes) and a light wash (mainly OH's work clothes)

So if I was to up that to 3 washes (baby clothes on their own but still once a week) I need clothes for 8 days?

That still confuses me on how much I need lmao

    you will :D

Tops and trousers, yes if you'd like to dress elliot in them for the days. But a lot of folk use babygrows/sleepsuits night and day with a new baby (I did up to nearly 10 weeks) because a newborn sleeps about 16+ hrs a day, and I always felt that baby jeans looked a bit uncomfy to have a nap in! I saved the cute little jeans and jumpers for when we went somewhere posh, and he was in an all in one babygrow most of the time :)

washing-wise, I think what nappies you use and what your baby's poo pattern is like will make quite a difference.

Washable nappies mean a lot of washing, as does a typical BF baby who'll poo 3-4 times a day sometimes very wetly!

Fergie was FF so only pooed once avery 6 days quite neatly, so less washing there...

Sorry I know that's quite vague!

Don't worry though, if you run out of vests the fairies will send you some :)

you are being very organised I think most people just make it up as they go along, say you use a vest during the day and one at night, so if you wash babies clothes once a week 16 vests would be plenty (remember you will probably get some as gifts), sleepsuits one a night then day clothes. Some people keep babies especially newborns in sleepsuits during the day too, i dont but I like the routine and knowing the difference between day and night its personal choice.

Nice to find oout BF babies poop more lol cos that is what I am planning on doing, I am using disposable nappies though.

I have an exciting day of being at work today lol I am here from 7am-6.30pm then off to slimming world from 6.45-8.00pm then won't get home till 8.45pm boo I will probs have a bath and go straight to bed :( so LOTS of talk on here please today to occupy me lol

Welcome mummy dumpling (I am so scared we are at the end of june lol)

I am weird, OH will make me laugh so much, I just cant stop giggling and you know when you laugh so much it hurts? then it turns into random crying, like totally sobbing, I mean !!!!!! is wrong with me lol

Carol from work who gave us the mama's and papa's boucer has told me that she has a swing for us and some boys clothes :) yay, I need to get her a present to say thanks, she has given us so much!

I just had to tell you about my Nan and Grandad. They've been married 56 years and sometimes one will make the other giggle at something and then they are just unstoppable! It's very sweet, but I think when it happens in public people think they are a bit senile!

On the vest front, I have about a dozen newborn and 0-3 vests, and about the same in sleepsuits. I haven't really got any outfits as we don't know the flavour but I have got some little jackets and pram suits as ours will be a winter baby.
:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator :p
