  • EA- my Dad is the opposite and completely in denial about becoming a Grandparent. He 57 this year so not exactly the youngest Grandparent ever!

Pookie- I'm going to use a muslin under the bar strap then draped over baby. It covers everything and has the advantage that it stops bubs getting distracted when you're out and about.

I feel a bit poo today. Not sure why, had some horrid stabbing pains in my tummy, my jaw aches and now my left boob is hot and painful. How random!

I've now stopped telling my mum any baby names we have cause she insults them and calls them disgusting names.

This is EXACTLY why I have not told anyone (apart from you girls!) our baby names!! DH is banned from discussing them too!!

I tried to bf with dd but was very impatient and gave up at the first hurdle when I could not get her to latch on. Am doubly determined this time but bit nervous at thought of doing it in public as I don't want anyone to see my boobs lol.
Can anyone tell me how to get around this problem, would a sling be any use, already have a baby carrier but was thinking today that a sling could be useful as well.

Yeah I think slings are meant to be good for discreet feeding. I want to BF too but to be honest the thought of it actually freaks me out a bit! I keep having weird dreams about it too. I hope when it comes to it it will feel natural to me.

pookie, if you are determined this time but worried about doing it in public, then I would invest in a good sling (it can be a bit fiddly to get used to but once you have got the hang of it, then it's soooo easy!) Also what about breastfeeding tops. Personally I wasn't bothered, as you really can't see much anyway, but I wore a vest top with another top over the top of that, when it comes to feeding baby then the first top goes up and covers the top of the breast, and the vest comes down covering the rest of you and your tummy. A little envelope hole is made so just the nipple can be got at by baby, and this is all covered by babies face. You can also wear a scarf so that while latching them on and off you can put it over babies head to cover up anyhting that may pop out. Most places like shopping centre's and the like have OK baby facilities anyway, and most have a chair at least out of the public eye, if not a comfy chair and a private cubicle if it bothers you. I can almost guarantee though, that it will be one of those things you just get over, once you have a baby screaming to be fed, who see's what is the last thing on your mind it's just "FEED THAT BABY NOW!!!!" :D Lol!

Good luck with it though, if you need any help or advice then I found the breastfeeding network good, as they weren't militant, yet gave factual advice unlike a lot of things I have heard bandied about by MW/ HV that are just factually incorrect! I really do think it should be law that MW should have to do up to training on breastfeeding, or at least tell you they if they haven't so you can ask for one that has! Grrr! Rant over :D

Really really can't see much anyway as baby's head is there lol I had people coming over to kiss babs when I was feeding her then realising and backing off. Never really bothered me though. When I started I wore a shirt open over a vest top so baby was tucked inside shirt, but really with them swaddled in blanket and your clothes, not necessary. Make sure you get nursing bras though coz feeding with normal is not good!!

Anyone worrying about bf, I would say give it a good try before giving up. It was one of the most amazing experiences, and just watching your baby looking up at you with those beautiful huge eyes makes up for any pain you do get... which soon goes as your body gets used to the feeding process. :D

  • Nikkit, we have the My3 and really like it so far. I've also bought a Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix to go with it.

I bought it when MC had 10% off everything online, then used another 10% off code so saved quite a bit. May be worth hanging on to see if any more discount weekends come up in the run up to Christmas.
