Skintgypsy - I heard they dont try until 16 weeks minimum. I heard mine at my doctors when i was 16+5 and on my own angel sounds doppler when i was 18+1.

Lauralou - hugs and take care of yourself. Really do hope you come back here soon
Had our 32 week scan this morning. Background is at the combined screening at 12 weeks, despite every thing else being way above normal even with my age (36), one of the hormone levels was very low which is one of the indicators of chromosonal problems - our risk was high at 1 in 63 for downs - but also an indicator of placental function. We decided not to have a cvs or amnio and the 20 week scan found no "soft tissue" markers for downs or anything but have been having 4 weekly growth scans since. All the way along, he's been at the small end of things but this morning we were told that his growth rate is slowing down and there is now a chance of early delivery and we have another scan now in 2 weeks. His weight estimate is just over 3lbs which the consultant said shouldn't be an issue for early delivery. Boss agreed to bring my maternity leave forward so I'll be at home for 7 weeks before my due date now - apologies if I end up queue jumping but I'd rather that than the alternative. Infact would rather not even think about the worst case scenario mentioned this morning, just concentrating on counting kicks to reassure me.
Handy you were having the chat about clothes sizes yesterday - I bought a load of 0-3 months and also some up to 1 month from M&S. Can't bring myself to buy any tiny baby stuff but maybe I will have to. As DP said, if it makes me feel better to have some and we don't use it because he keeps on growing, we can always donate it to the special care unit.
Not too smiley here today.0 -
Laura so sorry. ((hugs)) Hope to see you back soon.If you do decide to join the TTC thread they are very lovely, knowledgeable ladies on there!SkintGypsy wrote: »Hi ladies. Just popping in on my lunch break. How soon can the midwife hear the heartbeat on her doppler? I have my first appointment at ten weeks. Is that too soon?
I've read they don;t check til after 16 weeks as they're not guaranteed to find it before then and it can be distressing if they are trying to find it but can't, however I had an appointment at 13 weeks-ish and she found it straight away. I think 10 weeks may be a little early though.Evansangel wrote: »And then maybe hang a basket down on a rope, for him to put the parcel in, so i can pull it back up
Well I had brown pasta with garlic olives, fresh tomato, courgette and grated cheese for my lunch - very yummy!!
TMI alert! - I have started with a bit of constipation and piles too:( Which is annoying. I wasn't expecting the latter until at least a little bit nearer my due date! My diet is already pretty good, lots of fruit, veg and water pretty much nothing processed and always wholegrain pasta, bread etc (except the occasional tiger bread!) so not really sure what else could help.
Sorry forgot before - (((hugs))) elasti, sorry your mum isn;t more enthusiastic about baby0 -
Have some dodgy hugs, always

Hi hun - my MW surprised me at my 15w appointment (had some blood taken for Down's screening) - it was nice and strong. She warned me before she tried it might be tricky to find and not to worry, but it was there straight away.
10w is probably just a little bit too early and she won't want to make you worried in case it's not picking up yet - you could ask if she can let you hear at the next appointment when you book that oneCC [STRIKE]2771[/STRIKE] 14190 -

With the heartbeat they say sometimes you can find it yourself before 12 weeks, i belived that and got distressed when i couldn't find it.
So ask the midwife anyway, but try not to worry if she cant find it
Good luck!0 -

I use Goofbay which has a free sniping tool - it autobids for you in the last seconds of the auction which can make it easier to win.
