  • EA - how is the blanket your Nan made? What's it like? I live HM stuff - esp from Nan's! my Nan is doing a knitted coat for my 2 year old (not sure if it will suit her as she's getting older now - what do you think? Is HM knitted things for babies only? Never give it much thought before.

Fattybooboo - i would leave the base of the car seat in the car now if you've already got a secure fit. you can look behind you and get used to it being there :-) exciting!!!

Fidget/Somnium - have you thought about a pregnancy pillow, would that help at all with the sore back? Good luck x

Elastigirl - did you ring the hospital back?

Yorkygal - I know how you feel. I feel sickly this morning and boobs are getting sore too. Just think when the bump's showing how exciting it'll be (as well as many other emotions on daily - hourly basis.

Novagirl - Did you organise your scan? x

Bear family - Congratulations and well done, your pics are gorgeous.

JHA - I think i saw some maternity bra's of same size on ebay last night in the baby-> maternity section rather than women's clothing section - might be worth a look?

Harley - Good luck - thinking of you xxx

portsmouthali - we get 2 scans here too, 12 weeks and 24 was my last lot with DD1. You can find out if boy/girl if the little darlin is in right position - they tell you at hospital but said they wouldn't guarentee it as someone tried to sue them when they got it wrong once - how completely bizarre!!!! any idea when your 1st scan will be? I think mine will be around 16th november.

Lauralou - welcome - I am new too and also around as many weeks as you (I think) x

got-it-spend-it - Fab pics, loving the bump! Somenice memories to treasure!

Well I went to the Docs to "report in" last night. Advised him of my pregnancy and he took my word for it as used a CB test which they use themselves. He gave me the MW number (OMG where did I put it, my brain isn't working....think) and I have to ring them to tell them I am Pg when I am 8 weeks. My blood pressure's lower than normal (normally low anyway) so I have to be careful standing up too quick and so on but will be fine. He reminded me what foods to avoid and to make sure everything's thoroughly cooked even if I don't normally have it that way (beef etc). I was fine last night and woke up this morning with a stinking headache. Felt sick with it. Luckily it's passed now. I had headaches with DD1 during first 12 weeks - does anyone else suffer from pregnancy headaches?

Have a fab day all - I am at work so guess I should be earning some pennies and get my head down! Going to list some things on Ebay too when I get chance.
labour vibes to those that need them and can't wait to hear from Harley xx:T

Fidget - hope your pain eases a bit. I have nights that are worse than others. Also, the assistant in H&B was wrong...RLT doesn't bring on labour, it's main effect is to strengthen your uterus which is supposed to shorten the 2nd stage & help with contracting back into shape after birth. Just ignore her.

    :D

Thanks everyone, I still feel like someone has had a baseball bat to me  But it's not as frustrating when I'm not in bed as I'm not trying to sleep or constantly fighting to stay comfortable IYSWIM. The amount of pillows etc. I have in bed is ridiculous, I keep adding more every night. I've got 6 normal pillows, a v-shaped MothCare one and the giant Lidl one and now I've added the folded up duvet from what was the spare room.

I'm waiting in for the 3rd time in 10 days for the gas man - hoping he doesn't come on the last minute so it's too near MW appointment.

I know Aless, most people think that's what the RLT's for so I just humoured her but then I toyed with the idea of upping my dose in case there was an outside chance :rotfl: Nah, I do feel awful but I'm not quite ready yet.

My aim is to get every last bit of ironing done in the house so that no one has any trouble finding anything for DD when I'm in hospital. Still have a little list of things to do before he's allowed to come out! OH will have to get his arris in gear and help me with them though as my abilities are a bit lacking at the moment.

Hope things hold off for you today CSH and lots of labour vibes to squishy.

Welcome and congratulations to Laura x

Have to go here's gas man!

Morning Jillie- yeah for mums doing the dishes!
Hows things? How is your DH getting on?

DH- is still very up and down. it really hit him yesterday. so i let him do his own thing as agreed a few days ago. i maybe a bit hard but i told him he's got to be here for Kian now. there is nothing he can do now about his sister and Kian needs him. i dont think it helped that he got a big massive cold sore last week, so didnt want to be too close to Kian in case he caught the virus from him. but i now need him to help me. my mum has been brilliant so far and i dont know what i would have down without her (given diff circ i know DH would have been amazing --- now i want to call his sis all the names under the sun) but its time for daddy to pull his weight and start to look after Kian as well.

    if that makes sense!!

    how are you doing?

GISI, great pics, are you liking being on ML?

I'm loving ML thanks Weezl. I feel like a different person- my back hurts less, I can get the sleep I need and concentrate on getting ready for baby!
I have booked every monday off on flexi till christmas :) yay go me lol OH is jealous lol

That is a clever tactic! I bet you'll feel so much better for a shorter week and every weekend will feel like a bank holiday for you!

    Morning all! :)

This may sound like a really dumb question, but are you from Portsmouth? lol.

I was wondering that too but didn't like to ask :o

In the nicest possible way, glad to see Harley is still missing. csh I'm sending stay out vibes to you just for today! Squishy I guess that means you get all the labour vibes.

Fidget I'm so sorry to hear you're so uncomfortable. I really hope MW can suggest something for you. Have you tried a nice warm bath before bed? I find that helps my hips and back relax for the night.

Just having some [STRIKE]old wrinkly fruit from fruitbowl[/STRIKE] a lovely healthy fruit salad and my RLT for the day. I really like the taste of the RLT although I think I'll struggle to get to 4 cups a day as I only usually have one or two hot drinks.

MrsT - I had a span of a few weeks where I was getting unexplained headaches, but it did eventually pass and not had much problems with them since. On the knitting front, I forgot to report that my mom secretly knitted a small baby blanket for us before she died last month...I was really moved when my aunt gave it to me when I was over there several weeks back (my mom didn't really knit much [she was more a sewer], so it was a real surprise)! She also started a sleeping bag-thing but my aunt is going to finish it.

Thanks for all the sling links, ladies. I'm the type that does TONS of research before I commit to something. Definitely leaning towards a mei tai-type sling, but hoping I can get one for cheaper than £50! There's some gorgeous ones on Etsy, btw, so even that would be cheaper.

I am doing this from memory so apologies if I miss anyone!

Congratualtions to ML, Nicki and Europa

Harley - hope lo is with you now x

Scotsgirl - as others have said try not to worry the mw always assured me that the baby would take whatever they needed from what I ate (before it was ejected ) I was luck with last pregnancy that m/s stopped just before I was 12 wks (which set me in a panic!) congratulations on your bfp!

jha - Sorry saw your question last night and was going to reply but got caught up with things irl! I have posted links for those bras in the past (I found them when expecting ds1 - used them for dd2 and bought them again when expecting dd3) so imo they are great!

gisi - I had M&P seats for dd1/ds1/dd2 and they worked well (from what was available at the time (they are 8/7/4) with dd3 I got the maxi cosi with the click in base... The reasoning being it fits into the pushchair frame but really because I love the click base - very easy to use (especially with the evil school run to do... and we are always running late :o) tbh I only put dd3 car seat into the pram frame if I have to park too far from the school when picking up/dropping off the big kids... Like most baby things it is a lifestyle issue - if it will save me a few minutes (especially in the morning!) then I deem it to be worth the cost :rotfl:like the footmuff for the car seat :o saves me having to get dd3 dressed and faffing around with snowsuits/coats so that she is warm enough when we have to dash into school :o Fab pictures btw!

Beenie - hope you are feeling better - have you tried sliced lemons in boiling water with either a squish of honey (or if like me you dont like honey - [STRIKE]oodles[/STRIKE] a bit of sugar to sweeten?) I bet the cakes were yummy!

three - Itchy scalp (or am I making things up now?!) I had to change shampoo/conditioner when pg as for some reason I seemed to have a reaction to it... have to change again because for some reason post pregnancy body doesn't like the one preg body did :rotfl:

Hugs and best wishes to all - and congrats to everyone who has had a bfp x

Mrs_T - I have already one of the long body pillows. I think the back ache is one of two things 1) as its my week off spending too long in bed hehe or 2) cos I keep waking up and finding my self on my back! I love the pillow and cant get comfy on a night without it, if the bed was bigger I'd get another.

Jillie - Sorry your OH is down in the dumps, maybe getting him invloved with Kian would be for the best.

Well new washer/dryer being delivered this afternoon, but am fustrated as the old one is still here and the woman on freecycle that I offered it to hasn't been in contact to say she def wants it. It probably sounds a lil rude but have sent her another email saying if I dont hear from her in the next few hours then will give it to some one else. We don't have the room for it ( I stated we needed a quick collection on my original post) and I know the neighbours will get snotty if it sits outside for more than a few hours (downside of living on a resident managed estate!).

Only one week now till our next scan, really hope LO co operates and we can find out the flavour :D

The blanket is lovely! Its so good, even OH loves it! She also knitted two pairs of booties that i liked as she got bored lol.

She's now doing a cardi for the baby but wants to find out the sex before she does anymore, so she can buy the approriate colour :D

She also gave me a bag full of johnsons baby toiletries and some baby vests, made me a little teary :)
She said that as im her first grandchild giving her her first great grandchild its all she'll ever want from me :)

Oooh and i got a foot spa and some towels from her to :T
