    :hello: Good morning!

It was lovely and sunny when i got up but alas, no longer ..... I have bedding to wash.

Need to go to the butcher's this morning, and to Bluewater at some point as i want some more Lakeland zippy bags. Just used the last one for the last of the peppers - it occurred to me it would be much wiser to chop them and put them in the freezer, rather than leave them in the fridge to go all wrinkly :p They were Basics ones, and very good value. Though for some reason, all the bags contained one green pepper, 2 yellow ones and several red ones  I used the green one in a mushroom goulash the other week.

i think I'll get a pork shoulder from the butcher's, as their pork is lovely and you get lots of crackling

Topher - lovely to see you,and congrats on your wedding!

jayward - hope you're feeling less weary today x

lillibet dripping - Glad to hear your good news about the cottage. The pups sound gorgeous, but three Springer spaniels?:eek::eek:

((((HUGS)))) to everyone who needs some.

redruby - Hope you get an offer very soon!

NPM -Oh no :eek::eek::eek: So sorry to hear that. (Just seen your post.)

    morning :hello:

dull again here and cold, might brighten up later, just hope the rain stays away.

    Had weetabix for Brekkie
Lunch will be a ham sandwich then yoghurt
But dinner tonight will be whatever is in the freezer with the last of the veg

trying to use everything up out of the fridge so I can clean it before we go away on Monday, just got some very wrinkly little tomatoes that I will boil, skin, mush up and freeze ready for a spag bol or pasta bake.
A few slices of ham, will use a couple of slices today and 2 eggs for omlettes with the last of the cheese and chopped up ham for brekkie on Sunday.
We are out for most of the day tomorrow so will be eating brekkie and Lunch at the 2 Mums.

Diva - You are so right to keep sending pressies and cards to your mum, at least you are doing the right thing for you, however she feels, but one day she will perhaps realise that YOU have been the constant, caring one as ill as you are you still found time to care about others((hugs))
Topher - congratulations to you both on your wedding :happyhear and for keeping the cost down :T
Lilli - hope you feel better soon,
Molly - good luck with OCC Health today, hope it all works out for you
Kathy - the "barn in France" sounds as though its coming along really well lot of work though but worth it :D
Essex - have a lovely time, bag of crisps/pack of sarnies in bag/pocket and a pair of sox and a scarf for the cold, hope you have a big bag ;) I think something ought to be done about the price of food at these do's, if they were more reasonable and better quality more people would buy
thriftlady - O dear thats another one on the want/need list, think I will just go into amazon and browse(order it) :rotfl:dont you just love new cookery books ;)
NMP - O poor you, keep warm and drink lots x A friend of mine had it but was lucky it only lasted 5 days, she did'nt really want to take the Tamiflu but did and luckily it seemed to work for her with no side effects,
Well the washing is out, off to vac and dust all over then do the dreaded ironing

Have good days all hope the poorlys are feeling a bit better today (((hugs)))if you need one
    Anne

  • Pippa - you are so right - I dont mind paying the £ for quality food or putting up with cheap food at a cheap price but being ripped off loadsa money for a burger & a coke really upsets me. When we went to see Dinosaurs at the arena DD paid £3 for a pack of Haribo's!!

Anyway - Good Luck for today Taplady & (((hugs))) to anyone under the weather.x

Time for a coffee and a catch up on today's thread, then jobs and then off to town to buy kids' pressie for their dad, not that they've given me any ideas! And I still can't decide if I should buy him anything or not?

perhaps just a token something or other ? a book or similar, to wish him happy Birthday, but not to upset OH ??
  • Thanks Redruby, it'd seem strange after 20 years to not get him anything? It's not like we don't get on okay, well most of the time anyway! Will have a look for a biography or something like that I think, a nice gift but not too personal.

Well have binned piles of stuff from the sitting room, I just don't understand how it all accumulates, I'm always chucking out bags of rubbish that's been dumped in there, actually found some real rubbish in there today, an old crisp packet (inside yellow pages that I was putting back on the shelf) and a yoghurt carton with spoon (strange cos I make our own yoghurt?)

Kitchen is calling, but will do that whilst I make the pizzas later - will have to be later as have no flour again - must've left it in the car I think, and oh has the car this morning. So instead I'm going to play on here and browse all these darned books that thriftlady keeps on about and that amazon keeps suggesting to me!

Want to have a browse for espresso cups too, though perhaps I might be better off looking in charity shops or at a car boot sale for some, or even just asking around - sort of thing people get as pressies and don't use.

Had a real bargain on my wine, 6 bottles of Lindemanns for just over £11. They usually cost £5.99 each! Currently on 3 for £10 at tesco, plus when you buy 6 you get 5% off, then my staff discount, then some vouchers from the wine club (think £3 off when you spent £15 and £2 off if you bought 4 bottles, plus 50 points for buying any wine) - absolutely worth joining their wine club, couldn't believe the price or that all the offers worked together! So top tip of the day, if you like wine then sign up for the wine club if you haven't already!

ps yes Worthing was my neck of the woods, used the Tesco in Durrington and the one out on the main road to Littlehampton when I lived in Goring! I think Tesco is on some kind of bid to be the only supermarket sometimes, though it's good for my shares, it does seem a shame that we are losing so many little shops, at least this time it's a pub being replaced, though no doubt it'll have a knock on effect on small local businesses.

  • Morning Chums ,
well DGS Danny has an interview with Endemol this afternoon in West London, so I have everything crossed for him. he really has been trying since leaving college June to get a job in the field that interests him which is film production. Sorted all my Uni finaces out yesterday in Canterbury so its back to the classroom for me on the 28th yippee. This afternoon I shall pop in to Aldi's to top up on some leeks before going to my History class.Apart from that I think I have a quiet week-end where I shall just potter. I must remember to take my Chess set round to DDs as two of her boys Jack & Henry (8 & 9) have become very interested in Chess, and have picked it up very well. The little one Mikey (5) is very cross because they won't let him play so I'll take a draughts set round as he should be o.k. with that as its quite a simple game to pick up.DD has two second interviews next week so hopefully something will transpire from one of them.
Popped in to see sis-in-law on the way back from canterbury and bless her she has bought me a gadget for unscrewing jars/milk bottles ect. I have very little strength in my right arm owing to the lyphodema and she couldn't believe it when she saw me trying to open a screw-topped milk carton with a pair of Stilsons (Big pliars that you use to undo nuts in plumbing !!!) so now I can open jam jars and pickle jars and all sorts with my new gadget.
Well time I got a wriggle on have a great day everyone
    Cheers JackieO
  • Oh NPM - you poor thing! Hope you feel better soon.

I was geting myself worried on Weds evening , as I was really cold all day in work (although the guys thought the temp OK) and when I got home I ended up shivering on the sofa wearing 4 layers and with a fleece blanket, while DH was wearing a T-shirt! Then at about 10.00pm I felt so hot I put on summer PJ's.... Yesterday I had a headache all day, and have realised that my sinuses are blocked, so thankfully it does not seem to be Piggy-Flu (but I would normally resort to decongestants, which are a no-no when pregnant, so feeling a bit down).

This is becoming more of an 'OS confession thread' for me at the moment....as I still seem unable to get anything really done. House is still a tip and freezer & cupboard contents unlisted - still have no idea what we are going to eat tonight & at the weekend! Was hoping for a 'free' weekend with DH, sorting out the house and garden, but several other 'jobs' have now been written in, including sorting & taking several things in to the home for Dad, and running some errands for DH's mum, and he accepted an invite to a friend's on Sat evening which usually turns into a late night...so I can see it all getting away from us again.....

Work are STILL messing me about - they want definite confirmation from me that I am not going to take the job offer, but won't confirm to me if they are going to give me the enhanced redundancy I have asked for in return - and the HR woman has gone MIA and won't return my calls. It is all just so stressful! I also feel really sorry for the other girl who will get offered the job when/if I decline it - she must be really stressed out too with not knowing!

Ah well. Life goes on. In the future I am sure we will look back on this time and see it as just a little molehill, but at the moment it looks like a mountain!

Hope everyone having a good day.

    (((HUGS)))
