Sorry for potential errors in spelling, I am typing rather gingerly this morning as my wrists ache again :( I am still correcting this thesis as I'm supposed to give it back monday. To be honest, I would not pass it on a technical level as the flaws in execution of the work are really concerning, but a strategic choice of examiners and rewording to hide the screw ups will do the trick I'm sure. It's very rare to fail these  *sigh* It's a shame as he's really nice and I've known him for years - I really wasn't expecting something like this to land on my desk :(

I erm.. cleaned out the fridge last night. The salad tray - shall we say - was suitable for those on a liquid only diet _pale_ It annoys me so much when that happens :( Forgive me OS'ers, for I have binned....a lettuce, what might have been a cucumber, a tomato, a head of broccoli, a block of patesserie modelling chocolate and a carton of single cream.

Essex-girl - have a great time at the gig. I have just booked tickets to see The Horrors - OH has been tested many times, but this might be his limit :D
Thriftlady - my parents had a quince tree in the garden - it used to religously produce one perfect single fruit each year :rotfl:
Gertundenna - best og luck for your exam tomorrow
taplady - good luck for today ((hug))
 topher - congratulations on your wedding :)

Last night tea was mushroom and aduki bean casserole (with pork belly for Oh and bread for me) We are going out to s friends tonight - which, as much as I like him, I could do without as I am very tired. Have a good day all, cel x

    Hi Guys,
Hope everyone is having a good day. Good luck with hospital appointments today. I am shattered today as had an outpatient apptmnet yesterday that turned into a saga. I had to stay on and have yet another MRI scan which i had to wait around for. Well its an hour journey there and another back so it turned into a long day. Anyway hopefully I can have some more treatment next Friday as a day case. I have an apptment with Occupational Health today and am expecting to be sacked on the grounds of ill health or have to take early retirement. Gutted either way. Its hard because my longterm prognosis remains positive but it could take at least two years to get there and i am very severly disabled at the moment so will need lots of rehab. I have to admit though that Its unlikely that I will be able to work as a midwife again so perhaps retirement is the way forward.

Im not very old style at the moment but I keep trying to do what I can. I love this thread as it makes me feel connected with people which im not at the moment. Have a lovely day and wish me luck today.

    Molly
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Thanks for your marriage congratulations. Rather shocked (though not surprised) to see how many of you here are managing to be stoic and cheerful, and keep up a fantastic community spirit here on O.S. in spite of various hurdles and illnesses. Went to a Germaine Greer talk the other night and I came over all feminist, but basically am amazed at the strength of the "oridanary" woman/female. (Self included)
Better stop my one woman campaign against the idleness of my beloved male household, and crack on with the washing up mountain, swish the bathroom and sort yet more of the relentless washing.
Winter clothes are coming out today, and summer ones storing now they're clean.
Just audited the store cupboards, so have a tiny shop trip to local Coop to do.
Oatmeal Parkin recipes anyone? I'll probably stick to Delia's tried & tasted.
    T/J
P.S. note suit of DH in wedding piccy is his 1940s one we adjusted, its from my stepfather's stuff after he died. Is that O.S. or what?
  • Good morning everyone :hello:
My posting is hit and miss but I have been reading the daily this week. Poor DD was sent home from school on Wednesday (I wasn't feeling too great myself either), she was one of four pupils sent home. She has flu-like symptoms but I'm not convinced it's the dreaded s*ine flu. Anyway, she won't be at school again today which means I won't be at work. Why is it when you have an unexpected day off you feel the need to try and do two month's worth of jobs in one day?

Yesterday I managed to get all the washing up to date, vacuumed throughout, sorted the recycling, did a LOAD of shredding, sorted through all of DDs clothes so that they can all now be put away, washed countless dishes, cooked up a storm and cleaned the bathroom. I now have a pile of clothes that are too small for DD that can be given to her little cousin - Freecycle without the need to post. :D

Today's plans are to clean the f/f and make a list of everything that's in it. I'm (yet again) trying to throw nothing away and so have been trawling for recipes on the web to use up ingredients close to expiry. Ice cream is the order of the day today as I have cream and strawberries that need using up.

I have read the thread but my brain is woolly today so :j to everyone with something to celebrate and :grouphug: to anyone who needs one.

    Have a fabulous Friday. xx

Not feeling very jumpy this morning though - been off school for the past two days with a heavy cold on top of a stomach lurgy:eek:
Beautiful start to the day - will try to get the washing on the line if my legs will hold me up.
Two bits of good news yesterday - my mortgage offer is in, along with the surveyor's report and the signed contract from the vendor so everything seems to be falling into place nicely.
The other bit of news is that Lily, my eldest springy spangle, became a grandmother yesterday! Her pup from her last litter two years ago fathered the most gorgeous litter of spangles - we are going to visit them tomorrow morning. I have seen piccies of them and they are heart-meltingly pretty. Guess what we may be having for Christmas:eek:
Not much OS'ing going on today. Will take lemsip back to bed and stop the world for the day.
Hope everything goes well for you all today. Thinking especially of hospital appts.

    Morning peeps

it`s bloomin cold here this morning. I woke at the more normal time of six thirty this morning, DH was already up for wo*k so he brought me a cuppa in bed.

I`ve another big list of things to do today so it will be a busy one for me, i`ve already managed to update the freezer inventory and make a shopping list and mealplan so i shall type those up later, i always like a copy on the pc in case anything happens to the original. I lost a list a couple of weeks ago and it was so inconvenient.

I need to look for a recipe for the elderberry cordial - i shall be destalking more berries mid morning, i also need to sort out my recipe folder which has now grown into 3 folders  it is an ongoing job and i think that as i retype the recipes and get them into some sort of order i shall make a new folder on the pc for those too. It will take weeks to get this organised as i only intend doing a few each day.

The houndies are looking at me with huge eyes just waiting for me to move as its almost time for their morning walk, think i`ll be wrapping up warm this morning.

Topher - Congratulations on your marriage

Taplady - Hope today goes well

    Molly41 - Good luck today

Essex Girl - Have a lovely time at Wembley

Mioliere - The house sounds like its coming on in leaps and bounds

Diva - Hope that you find a car soon, it seems as if you`ve been looking for ages, fingers crossed for you.

Catch up later guys, have a lovely day.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Good morning all!

Taplady - I've really enjoyed all of Dan Brown's books, they are a good fast paced read, maybe not great literature, but great fun. Apparently he's the most popular author of our times? The stories are often a little, well okay a lot, far fetched, but they do make you wonder what if! He writes in the same sort of style as Matthew Reilly, though MR's books tend to be a bit more action adventure style they also cover old myths and stories. I often see DB books in the charity shops, guess so many people bought them that there is a glut, worth picking up in there, or I can dig out my copies if you like and post them to you if you pm me x

Well it's lovely and sunny here today, woke up extra early as oh was staying last night - no smutty comments please, he just has to be in work to do brekkie! Good job my alarm went off as his didn't! Alas I didn't leap from my cosy bed and achieve lots of things, I rolled over and went back to sleep after resetting my alarm! Had a dreadful stomach ache when I woke up, think a glass of milk I had yesterday might have been just on the turn, feel much better now though after several trips to the bathroom (apologies to those eating brekkie and reading!)

Today os stuff will involve hoovering, S&S the kitchen and kids' bathroom and washing. Also got to make some pizzas, never did it yesterday, oops! Making extra for me and oh and friends for tonight after this speedway thing we're meant to be going to - wondering what my chances are of suggesting they go whilst I stay in and read my book?!

Was absolutely pooped yesterday after going for lunch! Popped into Mr T's to pick oh up the game he wanted (if you're thinking about getting Cursed Mountain, or you have a child/oh/friend who wants it, don't bother, it's pants - what sort of game involves insense sticks?!) then dropped him into work. Got home and looked at my phone, friend had popped round and I'd missed him, called him and he'd nodded off in his car whilst taking the keys out of the ignition in the supermarket car park! Poor chap's day then got worse as he filled his car up with unleaded and it should have been diesel! He must have been really tired! Made my dopiness seem not quite so bad!

ds had rugby training last night, and is playing flanker this year, so I shall be laying in extra knee and elbow and wrist supports and hoping there are some offers on deep heat! He has always played out on the wing previously, so hasn't been quite so in the middle of the action!

Girls were all pretty grumpy last night, well dd2 wasn't too bad, but think it's the fact that they are still trying to get back into the routine of school and getting up early, am looking forward to handing them over to their dad tonight actually!

Time for a coffee and a catch up on today's thread, then jobs and then off to town to buy kids' pressie for their dad, not that they've given me any ideas! And I still can't decide if I should buy him anything or not?

Have a good day all xx

Edit: oh's puppetry book has arrived!!!!!
