write off credit card debt

Does April 2007 mean anything to anyone re credit card agreements. I have signed up with a company call Cartel who say any credit card taken out before April 2007 can be wiped off as the agreement is unenforceable. As it is costing me £495 up front then, if successful 30% of the amount that is wiped off I wonder if Martin knows what is so special about this date? If it is something I can argue for myself I have 14 days to back out with Cartel (advertised on radio such as Galaxy FM etc). Any thoughts?

They are not allowed to be mentioned as they allegedly have a habit of suing anyone that says anything about them.
  • You can do the whole thing yourself and there are lots of threads on here about it and template letters, I would get the money you paid as their fee back immediately and if you definitely want to pursue this road just do it yourself using MSE.
  • Sorry if I've named when I shouldn't have, all I want to know is has anyone heard of this loophole?
  • Did that £495 mean a lot to you?

Be interested to know if they will actually give you your money back.
  • Again, sorry if I've missed something, have tried looking on site for any info on this particular subject, I can find reclaiming charges, PPI etc but not specifically unenforceable agreements? Any idea where on site I might look?
Again sorry it's so obvious that I've missed it

Yes it did but if the lot gets wiped??? Better if I can do it myself for free tho

Definitely ask for you £495 back ASAP, hopefully they will stick to their word and refund you.

Then follow the procedure on the thread and you will be fine.

    Good Luck.
