    Hi Guys,

Been so busy, so just catching up now to see how everyone is doing?

I read the so sad posts of alcoholism and the ultimate devestation it has on everyone's life.We start off by being concerned that perhaps we are drinking more at times than we should, but never do we think that we could end up becoming an alcoholic.

But is this the downfall that we do not see, we are blind to this outcome. We choose to ignore this senario, as of course this is not us. I could not imagine losing everything that I hold dear and to spend my days drinking all the time.

I see myself as someone who may open a bottle of wine and drink the bottle, but if we are to be honest with ourselves this is the start of a journey. Some of us will stay at this stage but then we have experience of others who move on to another much darker stage in this journey.

I have said this before and I know alot of you think the same that I/we are not alcoholics. This I would agree with, but then there is the rational part of my brain which tells me that the people who have become alcoholics started off on their journey at this very same point. I am sure looking back in their lives they would have been saying the very same words. " I am not an alcoholic" only in time would they realise that they were!

Sorry I really don't know where I am going with this? I think it is reading Ra, Bis, Graeme and MollyPolly's posts which have set me thinking .................

Also Fay and her heartfelt post about her Dad, I know how much you have thought about your family Fay and also the relationship you have had with your father. I remember that you wrote him a letter a few days before he died, you never knew if he had read it, but as I said at the time, by writing the letter you ultimately made your peace with him. You are out of us all, a warm and caring person who has many wonderful qualities, you took a decision all those years ago to protect your children. That was for the right reasons then, and even after these years have passed it is still the right reason now. You are going through such an emotional time, people who seemingly have no integrity or compassion are making your life difficult for you. Remember that you are the better person in all of this, ultimately things will work out for you. Life is a learning curve, sometimes it is difficult but in the end we become better people because of it.

Things my Dear Fay will work out in the end :A (()) xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ok going now but will be back, I think I have been a bit deep :o

    God Bless

and I imagine the last thing on this list would have been your life.
That's untreated alcoholism - it destroys everything.

There will be people who have been on this thread (maybe not currently posting) that are losing things already. It will only get worse for them unless they are willing to be helped.

This disease will take the lives of many people on this thread, and dramatically shorten the lifespan of others. It is a shocking, killer illness

As you know I admire Graeme, I always read and re-read his posts. I think the above sentences say it all.....................

We need to be mindful and we need to be honest with ourselves, if we are then our lives will be much better for it.

Graeme realised that he needed to change, and he realised this in time to save his marriage and home. Ra also realised that he needed to change also, sadly he realised this too late to save his family and home.
But not too late to save his life.

So this is the lesson that we learn, it is never too late to change :A

Sorry I seem to be in a very thoughtful mood ..........................

Just been catching up with the posts.Well done to those who are achieving their targets.:T
I certainly didnt think I was an Alcoholic like my Mother,I drank for many years before my Alcoholism took off in a big way, very few Alcoholics stop drinking and those that do have to usually reach a "rock bottom".I am glad today that my drinking got bad enough for me to be desperate to stop.It is wonderful not to think about drinking,I am vigilent though,I dont drink Alcohol free beer or wine,I dont cook with Alcohol and I dont eat food with Alcohol in,I buy Alcoholfree mouthwash.
I never want to feel like I did 7years ago again.

    Have a peaceful evening all.
    Sobriety delivers everything Alcohol promised.
