    2 for me HB please.

Yesterday was a day of firsts - in that served sherry at lunchtime to the older people in the home that I manage and didn't have one myself (usually do as reward for not managing to burn the dinner!) - this did raise a few comments which is a sobering thought indeed. Tried Sainlsbury's alcohol free red wine last night to be sociable with OH who was drinking the proper stuff - crikey - it's been a while since I've tasted such a disgusting brew as that! Will be taking the unopened bottle back to the said store and requesting a refund in true MSE style as was certainly NOT 100% satisfied with it

Lincs - welcome - good luck with your challenge

I don't touch Alcohol free wine and beer.
I find the association too close, and want to move away from thinking myself as a drinker. Also, they are quite foul (AF wine more than beer)
I don't want to be in the situation when I have run out of alcohol free beer so I switch to normal beer

dear friends, how are you all? I have missed you as I havent been on here since early Dec when I went on holiday. I did drink on hols (as kind of "planned" to) but then carried on a bit when I came home and I messed up my target for December with only 8 AF days. (Mind you on the plus side, in 2008 I dont think I had 8 AF days in the whole YEAR!).
I have not been on here as I only tend to look when at work (back today for first time since 4th Dec) so I now know that this support thread has been really good at helping me stay focussed - and that I am obviously not as good on my own.
This month I have had one AF day and two non-AF. I have to say I have felt rubbish and completely "not me" if you know what I mean, after being AF for so long before Christmas.
I *plan* to have a drink on Friday this week (b'day) plus one other day this month so that would be a total please of 27 days for the count, whoever is keeping score this month! Havent had chance to catch up on a month's worth of posts on here but will have a peek back if I get chance today at work.
I hope everyone is doing ok and feeling positive and I send you lots of love for a hopeful and happy 2010.

  • Lincs1205 - alcohol has huge calories in it - I also use to snack alot when drinking or after drinking so that doesnt help as well - good luck and you'll see great benefits when you cut back the booze on your waistline - 1 bottle wine >600 calories (!)

Goodluck and lovely to see you posting sorry not said hello properly sooner.

Stick with this lot (utterly insane) but a lovely lovely bunch!

I think that is an excellent policy Graeme however am just cutting down at the mo rather than abstaining completely so thought I'd give it a whirl just to see if it was a viable option - It Certainly Is Not!

    I see - good luck

I tried alcohol free wine about 5 years ago (before I gave up drinking) and it was quite horrid. Would rather drink malt vinegar
