  • Cranked up another AFD, taking me to 17, please, Marru.

It's so lovely to be home again after the stress of being on hols with Mr PIR last week. The 3 DDs weren't too bad. The skiing was OK most of the time. But that man argues with everything I say and always has done - i can just about cope with it at home. He's here now asking me what I'm doing on the computer again ...

Pledged 498 had 338 AF days which is 68% in 87% of time

And the full table here as always

More thorough analysis when I get home and obviously a proper wrap up on Friday when I pass the baton to our lovely Honey Bear.

Talking of HB: I can sympathise you when it comes to mice. I had them running wild in my previous place and it was such a nightmare. Especially as with DD and a dog there poison wasn't an option.

I am getting really restless and can't fully point out what is the problem. Hmmm perhaps getting back to normal will settle me down.

  • Hi everyone
Back home now and no more AF days to report :( but my parents looked after me and didn't let me drink too much.
I have asked the boss if I can have this week off because I need some time out from work and family... hope he says yes. It's an emotionally hard time for me at the moment but must remember drinking solves nothing.

I'm going to fail miserably in December but I reckon 20 days AF in January is definitely achievable, so roll on the new year... - that's lemonade in them glasses!!

Lovely ditty Honeybear - you are talented indeed!!

    xx

  • Thank you so much for this post hiphouse as it very closely reflects my own battle with alcohol.
I hope you don't mind me highlighting the similarities.
"I'm sad", that was a beautiful post. Think you should change your name though :D

You're right, it really is the simple things in life that matter... and the most powerful is to keep our relationships as honest as possible. If others choose to be dishonest, that's their problem. Just keep our side of the street clean and our heads won't go mad on us.

I'm now three four years without alcohol. I read the first alcohol free thread on MSE some months - possibly more than a year - before I joined the site and certainly before I stopped drinking. I wasn't some drunken bum, I was working full time, was very successful - paid all bills on time, had no debt - yet I was emotionally and spritually bankrupt.

The threads helped and still do, but on it's own - for me - each thread wasn't enough... I had to really put in some hard, honest work to stop drinking - to look at myself, my behaviour, my actions and my thinking. I did this with professional help and with the input of AA. It's saved my life. I'm doing well now and know it can be even better as I continue on my alcohol free journey, continuing to use all the support that is out there, irrespective of others opinions.

There is help, take the risk and take the hand of friendship. Have courage, keep things simple, take one day at a time. This is just a suggestion, based on my experience. We each find our own way.

Brilliant advice RA:T:T....`we each find our own way` is sooo true & what works for some does`nt for others....in all cases support of those that understand is absolutely invaluable !

    Morning all

Some powerful and emotional posts on here the last few days. RA highlighted hiphouses post where it said to keep our relationships as honest as possible? I'm not always honest with my OH, I let things build up and then when I've had a drink it all comes bubbling over.

Last night we decided we will do a little time capsule. We have each written down our hopes and desires for 2010 and have put them in a tin to be opened Christmas next year to see how well we've done!. I know my OH dips out when I'm drinking. My mindset suddenly becomes all "me me me" and I tell myself its ok as I get very little time to indulge "me" normally. Its really not ok though and I really have to learn to strike a balance. So to make more time for OH and Piglet is one of my desires for 2010.

    Anyway.....
Marru.....I finally made the 15!!! Had a horrible feeling I wasn't going to, but I really wanted to see Day of The Triffids last night and would never have made it to the end of it if I'd had a drink!!:rotfl:So that means I may be AF again tonight as 2nd part on!:rotfl:

HB - Could you put me down for...um...however many days there are in january please?? Resuming the piggy fatloss campaign so will be abstaining from drink to give me a boost. (have a feeling all that I lost has gone back on..:sad:)

Cazza - sorry you didn't have a good birthday. Think sometimes we put too much pressure on birthdays to be good! Mind you, think I would have got up and gone to cinema by myself if it was something I really wanted to see!

OH has to work this morning, and I have to work this afternoon so won't see much of each other today. The friend that I feel has been having me on was the one that left work on the 24th to go off to university in january. I'm quite glad she's not at work now as I still feel very let down. Best I don't speak to her for a while I think.

Anyway, best go and do some housework....I have my house back yay! The tree and all the decorations were taken down yesterday morning so all is back to normal! Still too many choc hanging around though....my MIL gave us a tin of quality street....anyone want them???:confused:

  • Morning all ,

How are you all ? Sorry I have been AWOL for a while but life has been a bit stressy of late.

I am now in that limbo land where Christmas is now over but life is not back to normal . I have definetly drank too much over the last week and now feel fat , bloated and grouchy!.

I have decided that 2010 is going to my year !! I know that the best thing that I can do for myself is to stop drinking and would love to think that I could be AF for 365 days in 2010.!! But I will take it one month (or day) at a time . Therefore HB please put me down for 31 days in January

Catch up with you all later

    Love
