Merry christmas HB! Boo to the water but yay to the fingers!
My lovely OH just offered to go halves on my mums freeview box! Problem is I obviously need to get it today and he was off to work and neither of us had money and he needed his card to get money later. Which means I had to quickly chuck clothes on and follow him round on 3 buses (hes a bus inspector) till we got to a cashpoint. I am soaked to the core as my brollies broke and sat on my 4th bus of the day hot footing it to argos! Might nip into marks and treat myself to a latte and an iced yum yum!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hello,I will have been alcohol free for 363 days today,I am quite nervous about Christmas deep down,I am not sure how to articulate my thoughts at moment.
My family are coming today as I am cooking and last year this would not have been possible due to my drinking.
I had an alcohol related accident on Boxing Day last year and my life changed forever.
Those days spent in hospital were my rock bottom,I cannot begin to tell you how much anguish I put my children through, the way my 3 year old laid all my clothes out on the bed and told me to get dressed as he would look after me is not a memory I allow myself to think about too much, showing him my leg is etched on my mind,he said he would kiss it better at home.
I have never taken alcohol since,it is a day at a time,I have made huge changes to my life to maintain my sobriety, resigned from my job and accepted I could,nt do it all and if this was having it all,I did,nt want it anymore.I wanted to be a mum.
My family have been very supportive,my leg is better than anyone expected it to be,I have started running again very recently, have lost over 3 stone in weight this last year and bar the odd night sleep well.
I have asked everyone to bring their own alcohol and to take away what,s left over,I don,t keep alcohol in the house anymore,I don,t overly test myself however I have gone out more socially to restaurants and pubs since I became alcohol free,I have a good social life now but most and best of all I am a good mum now again.
Have a safe and happy Christmas everyone.x0 -

Oh jo, you poor thing why is life never straightforward for you!! But you're a great daughter and I hope your mum realises the lengths you are going to to give her a good Christmas. Enjoy your treat, you deserve it!
:santa2: Have a good day everyone else!
Hi i'msad, cross posted with you. Congratulations on your AF achievement. If I were you I'd buy yourself something really special as a soft drink (expensive fizzy elderflower or whatever you enjoy most) and look forward to celebrating your first AF year. Well done on the weightloss and general fitness too.0 -
Welcome Sad to the thread and congratulations on your fantastic achievement. Please stick around and get to know us, there are a few struggling on here at the moment and could do with another long time sober poster. Enjoy your christmas with your family, you deserve it x

OH was shaving his head this morning moaning about his old hair clipper so picked him up a new one in boots. Im very chuffed! No time for yum yums so Ive bought some to have at home. Oh and yes, I did remember the stuffing!
