Evening all
Thankyou for Piglets birthday wishes. He's had a lovely day with lots of nice new toys. :T
Fay - glad to hear OH finally on the plane. I can imagine he IS a bit grumpy but imagine he will be thrilled to finally arrive.
Eselt - prob best idea for your Dad to get train. M4 is ok but visibility isn't great at the moment.
Jo - glad you got back from tesco's safely! Could make christmas food shopping an interesting proposition for a lot of people!
Been fun evening at work. I work for a parcel carrier so you can imagine the problems we're having with weather etc:rolleyes:. Only one driver went off-road unexpectedly. Landed in a ditch but was generally ok. A friendly tractor driver pulled him out. Newbury gridlocked though due to two very nasty accidents so drivers there faced problems. Glad to see them all back to the depot safe and sound. Lets hope tomorrow is better.
Hope you are all safely home in the warm.
Miss P

Hello everyone!
I have just been to my first AA meeting. I would LOVE to be able to control my drinking, and be a social drinker....but I know that is impossible for me.
For me, as they say, one drink is never enough. I have tried so hard to keep within my limits, and as I am staggering about pouring 'just one more eensy one' I promise myself it really will be the last one...until the next day in Asda when I am buying another litre bottle to replace the one I got through in one and a half days. That's the trouble with drinking alone, there is no one there to remind you you have had enough :rotfl:
So, it's nearly Christmas and Steph decides to quit drinking. WHY do I keep thinking about that scene in Airplane, where Lloyd Bridges keeps popping up with an inane grin saying things like 'sure picked the wrong time to give up drinkin'/shmokin'/sniffin coke!'
Sober for the last two days.
Look forward to getting to know you

Welcome Steph.
You are in the right place.

Hi guys,
Sorry haven't been on here for a while.
Don't worry though all good with me, no increase in drinking and had a work night out on Friday and had 3 small glasses of wine and woke up with no after effects on Sat. Felt v.pleased at controlling drinking in this way and having an fab time too with friends
Just thought I'd pop on and say Merry Christmas, a little snowy here more icy now and super slippy ice rink style
Try not to over do it at this time of year!
I'm still weighing up stopping completely next year. I have altered my drining patterns so much in the last year I am now known as a lightweight drinker instead of heaveyweight.
All christmas preps in place, just a bit left to do, that's why I've not been on so much recently. Busy busy busy!

Well done Steph :j:j
Making that decision is tough but after the first few days the `bells` will be less obvious.
Accept that you will have moments of temptation but I tend to think of this thread when it happens to me & how guilty I would feel if I gave in:o:o
Angiexx 21 days for me marru
Hope everyone is well :j:j

Glad piglet had a great birthday. He has a great mum in you Miss P, so why wouldn't he!!
fedupski, great to hear from you and well done on moderate Christmas drinking.
Welcome (belatedly) steph and well done you on your decision. It may be the most difficult time of the year but go for it!!!
Well done jo on your shopping expeditions. I'm hoping to finish my gift shopping tomorrow and then there's food. 7 of us for Christmas and I haven't bought a turkey yet. I'm hoping I can get it Wednesday and start to defrost immediately as my freezer won't take it. If not I'll have to be totally nonMSE and go for fresh:eek:
Weather here on South coast is very easy compared with what lots of you guys are coping with. We had some sleety stuff earlier but it was wet rather than slippy so no problem yet. Hope OH arrived safely fay and that your OH enjoyed his lovingly prepared noodles DD!
Enjoyng my Christmas break from AFness but am already thinking ahead, buying low fat soft drinks in for driver visitors with thought that if not used up I will be having them in January. Having AF days (totally new concept for me in 2009) is really stuck with me and I'm confident I will slip back into the habit in January.

Morning :santa2:
Well I had a great weekend but as you can tell from my signature it was not AF. BUT I was AF last night:T So 13 for me please Marru
My rolling units total for the last 7 days is currently totalling 23 but if I'm AF tonight this will drop to 17.
Good Luck

Morning all!
How are we all today. Peeked nervously out the window this morning but no more snow for us, thank god! Not looking forward to work much today as all the drivers will be playing catch up. However, today IS secret santa day so that should give us all a laugh!
Maman...I've been completely un-mse with my turkey and got a crown from..ahem...marks and spencers. I save tesco vouchers all year for rest of christmas shopping so thought I'd splurge on the turkey. We are off to Mums for christmas Day so turkey is for days following that. Boxing day I have the dreaded out-laws for tea but they can have the cheaper ham :rotfl::rotfl:. I'm going for the ignoring approach with them this year...I will concentrate on having fun with Piglet and then I won't notice how annoying they are!
Fedupski - nice to hear from you. Its fantastic that over the course of the year you've managed to change your drinking habits. Wish I could say the same
Anyway, off to try and prise Piglet away from his new toys and towards the breakfast table! (he took a lego bin lorry to bed with his last night....could have been worse, OH said he stopped him from dragging his space station in there with him!!!:rotfl:)
Have good, safe days all. Take it easy on those slippery roads.
Miss P
