    Morning again Fay :)

Eselt, hope today goes okay, hugs to you xx

Just eaten one of 'my' mince pies, totally yum

Doing crap on the AF front  looking forward to Jan 1st when I feel I can draw a line under a strange year. Been most odd.....I've had more AF days than since I was 20 years old (I'm now 37 ), I've been more depressed about my drinking than I ever have. But I have found motivation, sorted out my house and clutter, mind is free'er (sp?) and I feel happier in myself. So swings and roundabouts, I do feel that 2010 will be an improvement, all I need to do it kick the AF'ness into touch then I think it'll be all sorted :D

Why not start being AF now? Why wait?
We always put off stopping, and thus never truly start the process of stopping. You could go into Jan with a few days under your belt and confidence up. That'd be great wouldn't it?

I think the reason you feel depressed about your drinking is that while you have made great progress, you are still drinking sporadically. You want AFness, but cannot achieve it. Thus the alcoholic in you is saying "you'll never be rid of me entirely" and that is depressing.
Also, when you're not drinking you may not feel the peace and serenity you thought you'd get by not drinking.

You need to take away the desire to drink, which means
    1) You no longer drink
    2) You no longer feel you are missing out by not drinking

This needs a change in attitude and perception. It is not easy, and you really have to want it.
All you need for that is to be open, honest and willing. If you are willing to go to any length to get it, then it can be yours.

Jo, will we have to start a 2010 thread or will they do it for us? I think you've done really well this year. I know you'd like to wave a wand and be permanently AF but it doesn't work like that does it? I think you're AF days total for the year are pretty impressive.

Nope, unfortunately very little worthwhile in life is that easy.
The easy way out is to drink, however that kills you mentally, socially, and finally physically.
The difficult but rewarding way is to be AF - and for that many people need to change their lives. It is our minds that put the alcohol in our bodies. Thus we need to change the way of thinking and living to achieve a happy sobriety.
This is a difficult thing to do - out of the hundreds of people who have come onto the thread this year, there are probably less than 5 who still have a continuous period of being AF.
It can be done however if one is thorough and fearless

Pledged 498 had 242 AF days which is 49% in 61% of time

    And full table here

Ok Aunty Jo - off to bed I go (after I've put the washing machine on :o)
"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

  • Hugs chaps - making soup here and a roast dinner later will I set the table?

We've lots of fizzy water in and lots of cordial (no wine or beer in the house) so who's up for a bit of roast chookie with all the trimmings and yorkshire puds?

Can extend my normal table (which sits 10) and put out the lovely new deep aubergenie purpley plates which I bought with November AF money :)

Got myself an orchid yesterday (=3 bottles wine) and its in the bathroom

Contemplating making a pavlova for pudding with rasps from the garden (in freezer) we can do a AF xmas party :)

Waves hello to folks - YM sorry to hear you getting more hassles

............pigtails and a santa hat here!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:
