What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
  • Morning all

How are we all today? Day 2 of this weeks 72 hour challenge. I've not had any bells clanging yet but I'm feeling a bit under the weather which tends to make me not want to drink, which is good in a way I suppose!

Budgie - well done on resisiting the urge. Lots of ((hugs))

Marru - thats 9 for me please!

I think I'm falling apart here. I've got a very sore and aching right arm. I was getting paranoid about it yesterday and rand and made appointment with the doctor. Then OH pointed out that I fell out of the bath last week and wouldn't that have some bearing on it? I felt a bit silly.:o So must cancel that appointment this morning. And then this morning I woke up with a raging toothache! I just took a couple of pills and withing minutes its not hurting. Very bizarre, as I'm sure pills don't kick in that quick. Told you, I'm falling apart!:rotfl:

Dads 60th today! So off down there shortly with presents and balloons. He and Mum are off to lunch at one of Raymond Blancs restaurants (lucky devils). I'll make do with a sandwich at home I suppose!:rotfl:We are all off out Saturday night to celebrate his birthday at a local italian. Think thats more suited to Piglet!!:rotfl::rolleyes:

Anyhow, stop rambling now. Have good mornings all!

Morning all, am sat here snuggled up in cosy fleecy clothes with a mug of hot tea and a cold.

All OK here, and looking forward to first AF Christmas since er... sometime in early teens (note to self, must lay in HUGE stocks of ginger and lemongrass cordial, and fizzy water).

Someone mentioned milk thistle, I took this from almost the time I stopped back in May along with strongest Vit B supplement I could find in H&B. Hard to say if it helped as I was feeling better from stopping drinking anyway, but I think it did. My Vit B levels must have been in a bad way and my liver was definitely hurting before and not now, so can't be bad.

I've missed logging in for a few days, but that's 14 for me Marru (and no intention of drinking today).

Jo, your doctor sounds like a dead loss and is obviously not giving you the kind of support you need (and deserve) right now. Maybe time to change.

    Hi to all, especially newbies.
  • Hi Everyone,

I've had a couple of day AF a few weeks ago and one last night. Its a difficult time of year with all the get together. I aiming for another AF tonight which will put me a 4 so far for December.

I definately do not sleep very well without the Alcohol, again last night I have been half awake half asleep, having dreams etc. In January when all the parties are over I really want to set a higher target. I think one day at a time is the way to go with this.

Welcom Signs, I am new here to and can so relate to what you said.

  • Good morning everyone.
Well, I managed to stop after half a bottle again last night. Slept a little badly but this morning feel a bit carp. Emotional, cross about circumstances re my redundancy, more stressed than I normally would be, hot and sweating. Putting it all down to withdrawal. BUT proud of myself for not having another drink last night.
Drinking juice/telling myself I don't need to get drunk/thinking about the money saved and calories etc all helped, and all suggestions I was given here. Now I'm drinking water, hoping that will cool me down somewhat. I also really really want to be able to do some of the more frugal challenges, and pay off my debts, and I can't do that while I'm buying alcohol.
Once again, thank you so much for the support..... and I'm afraid I stole one of Lurkio's delicious mince pies!!!!!

  • Well done Signs. As our fab GC says, one day at a time. Maybe joining in some of the MSE challenges will help. Why not put your money saved from not buying wine into a pot towards next christmas? I'm doing the sealed pot challenge again next year - failed miserably this year (raided it by March :o)

I'll give myself a target of 13 alchohol free days over the next 17 which will allow for some seasonal tipples - but want to go for 100% AF Jan/Feb (never had an alc freee week before!) who's with me??!! LOL
