Signs - well done on limiting it last night. Small steps is the way to go. Good luck.
YM - Re: the pains in the side. Is that where your liver is?? Just wondered as the last couple of weeks I've been getting a "stitch" every now and then. It did cross my mind it might be my liver complaining at me!

Not a doctor but I believe the liver is just below the right rib cage. Mine feels like a stich as well.0 -
Mine has ached in the past, like it's too big to fit in there, which it probably is as I had an enlarged liver
If you press your right side at the bottom of your rib cage it will feel tender to touch.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hello everyone,
At work and need to dash off again as there are 4 dogs waiting for me to take them out (and I still haven't sent my xmas pressies to my family and the deadline was on Friday )
Havnen't managed to read properly but scanned through so hopefully have managed to pick up the scores. Which look like this:
Pledged 485 had 175 AF days which is 36% in 42% of time
And the full table here as always

Just managed to catch up after weekend away. Had a great time, not AF but moderate. Drinking in bars and restaurants isn't as bad as necking the bottle (or more) at home. Weather was bright but cold and I had a few glasses of gluhwein (sp?), very festive!
I didn't have any liver symptoms but after poking about under my right rib just to check, it's now quite sore so thanks YM :rotfl:
DD1 has gum problems at the mo, dentist says it's brought on by stress. She has antibiotic that dentist and pharmacist were emphatic shouldn't have any alcohol with them. DD1 is completely teetotal so not bothered. Perhaps you should get some prescribed jo?
Belated hello to signs, you'll feel quite at home here as loads off us were a bottle a night+ people. My favourite soft drink was hot Ribena, found that if it was hot then I sipped it rather than pouring down my throat like I would with wine. Actually I'm not that obsessed with having a drink in my hand any more so often just have some water with my meal and then some chocolate before bed. I'm just a cutter-down but there are lots of givers-up on here too.
I'm going to be AF tonight but that might be only one this week so will give 72hr challenge a miss but will cheer you all on as the wagon goes by!
Hope everyone is OK, catch you all later.0 -

YM, what's with the font??

GC, my doc knows all about my drinking problem, his advice is 'just don't buy it, then you can't drink it'
Jo,I might be being a bit naive here, but is that altogether good advice from a doctor. Are there not other things to do that can help with alcohol which your doctor can sort out for you?Trying to keep in budget.

Well done signs.....remember every sip you don`t drink is a step in the right direction. The groggy mornings will improve.
I hope that the `openly talking` about your drinking has started to give you the feeling of having more personal control. I know it did for me.
Well done everyone ...stay strong & good luck to this weeks 72 hour abstainers.:T
Off to get my tea. I put on a steak & kidney casserole in the slow cooker this morning & it smells divine
:D....just got to put the yorkshire puds in the oven.:D

GC, no not mentioned the gums to the doc, I just meant that he is already aware that I have a drink problem so I have no issues being honest with him.
Gien, yes that is practical advice from a doctor and obviously makes sense. But what I meant by it was that that was the only thing he says on the subject, Ive asked him numerous times over the past 6 years to refer me to someone but he says I need to do it myself. When I ask him for a blood test for my liver he says I dont need it because it would take a lot to damage it. All this after him knowing that Ive been through 3 detoxes, one of which meant I had to have 2 weeks off work not allowed to use my car and sit at home on librium which the local alcohol and drug centre has got me to do! Its like hes the one in denial over my drink problem not me! So until I hear hes gone away on hols and the nice locum comes back theres not much point in going there.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0
