ShaggyWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Morning all
Squizz, good luck for today, don't hold back, tell the truth, lay yourself bare. Your doctor needs to know how serious you are about this, plus you will find a small piece of the burden is lifted from your shoulders after sharing. Good luck, let us know how you get on (oh yeah, and xmas light photos please) xx
IM, you are doing fantastic and good luck for your 2010 mission! I remember when I started my job a couple of years ago there was one girl at work that had given up drinking for a year, I used to think what an inspiration she was, she'd come out every couple of months when we all went to the pub and stick around till closing and not drink. On the 366th day she went out and drank like a trooper and 18 months on is still doing so regularly! In fact you've reminded me, when I first met her and a year later after the drinking again she definately doesn't look quite so fresh iykwim, maybe a bit puffy
Well, feel like I've been hit by a truck this morning as I DIDN'T drink last night :rotfl: had DD1 sleeping in my bed (I just know I'm gonna catch it ) and she was coughing like a good'un but at least it wasn't a whooping sound, it was looser (sorry TMI) and today she's sneezing.....although her temp was 39.9 when we got up, an hour later, after the calpol, it's down to 39.2. So what do I do? Just keep checking temp and leave her to it or rush her up to A&E and sit there for 5 hours to be told she's got a bad cold like I usually do? Can't see a rash and she says all that's wrong with her is a cough.
She upset me this morning though cos it's her xmas concert today and I said she wouldn't be able to go in to school and she started crying and said she needed to do her concert cos she'd been practising really hard:(:( They do it to the parents today and tomorrow so I've got to do all I can today to help her recover enough to get to school tomorrow. Any ideas??
Gotta go get the other one ready for school, speak to you all later xxDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

Morning all:hello:
Fay - sorry to hear of problems you are having with your PHD. As Eselt say, its a shame to lose all that research. But you must do whats best for you and your sanity!
Budgie - glad to hear Mr B will be getting some professional help. I've been so worried about you. Please keep posting, even if only to vent things. We are always listening.
Piglet was slightly better behaved yesterday. We made him a new reward chart and did some "House Rules" to stick on the fridge (thankyou Supernanny!). Later on he made such a mess in the living room I raised my voice to him and he turned to me and said "No shouting Mummy" (one of the house rules!). I couldn't help but laugh.
Well, onto day 2 of the 72 hour challenge. I'm following GC's always sensible advice. Taking it one day at a time. I would dearly love to get through christmas and new year without a drink but will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Jo, poor you!! And poor DD2. My friend had same with her daughter last year. She had a sickness bug on the day they were due to do concert. Poor things!
Advice? I'd say wrap her up and get her out in fresh air. Keep getting her inhaling steam (either in nice warm bath or over a bowl) and tonight get her to sleep well propped up so stuff doesn't settle in her lungs with laying flat. Other than that, cross your fingers!
Marru - 5 for me please!

Good morning,
Jo - I am in the same boat as you. DD not well enought to go to school. She is going to miss school play this evening (and possibly tomorrow as well) and also can't go and visit her friend today as planned. My neighbour can't look after her for me to nip to work to get my papers so need to drag her with me. Better get off before rush hour traffic. Thank goodnes I can work from home.
So too busy here to even think about the drink. Can only be a good thing. Fay - thinking of you. PM me anytime!!!!!!"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Good Morning:hello:
Have Just caught up with the thread from the weekend (i was a bit rushed).
BB, sending you big hugs - I really feel for you being in such a difficult place. Here's hoping that the therapy and meds start to work for Mr BB and you can both work through this and go forward. I've no experience with CBT but did go to a counsellor after my Mum died - it was just lovely to be able to talk stuff through and share the feelings with someone neutral.
Jo, it sounds horrendous for you oldest daughter - having to deal with that carp at such a young age - I hope she's a strong lass. I have to say that with the temperature your DD2 has got (even after calpol) I would at least ring NHS direct. they may have info on what sort of viruses are circulating in your area and might be able to say whether you should go to hospital or not.
BHB, can I be a bit revolting and ask if your toenails will grow back after having them and the beds removed? Hope the nursey is being very gentle with your tootsies.
Miss P and YM, I think I've realised that the only way I can do it is to take one day at a time. My defenses are so much lower after the first drink that it's too easy to just carry on quaffing.
Even when I've had a glass of wine with dinner recently I've had to keep saying in my head all the time, just keep it to one, stop now. TBH I'm wondering if it's worth even having that one glass every now and again because I think you kind of lose the taste for it and then the pleasure isn't there. this will be tested at christmas when I open the bottle of champagne I have been keeping for nigh on half a year.
Welcome (back) to Jeff George, compingaddict and Cazzasmazza.
Marru, I am now on 6 days AF, everyone taken just one day at a time.
Have a good day everyone, here it's a little bleak but I am going to town to do some pressie shopping.Trying to keep in budget.
