Sorry to hear about your car jo, had hoped it was something fairly minor. Fingers crossed AA (or rather the AA) will sort it soon. Your 'blip' last night was very understandable so just put it behind you and move on. I know I've said this before but your weekends seem so stressful, even with the car. There was that washing crisis and now this. I do wish I could help but a 'virtual' childminder or taxi driver isn't much use. Do try and relax a bit before work starts up again.:grouphug: Glad car's fixed now, hope shopping trip uneventful.

Ange, you are an absolute star and I so admire your resolve. If you do 1000 days that's almost 3 years and you should be finished by about end of September 2012:eek:

I coped well last night. I decided to be completely AF at party. OH was delighted as I volunteered to drive (60 mile round trip) and also I think he was secretly pleased that there was no chance of me saying/doing the wrong thing with his ex. Many members of family were amazed that I could cope all evening on fizzy water and kept offering us beds for the night. We had deliberately not agreed to stay over as OH wanted to be able to leave if things got unbearable. Fortunately everything went off fine. When I got home (2.30 a.m.) I had 2 large glasses of wine so although strictly Sunday not really AF.

Have a good day everyone, weather's grim but at least it's not Monday!

    Hello

I am back early as BF woke up very ill this morning and we suspect he has swine flu. As much as it pained me to leave him I had to get DD home and just be content with the knowledge that he has his mum, who is trained nurse, looking after him. What makes me worried is that he has dodgy kidneys and that combined with bad flu is not good at all. :(

On the positive note we went to panto yesterday and that was my first panto ever and it was absolutely hilarious. Really enjoyed it. DD was scared for the loud roaring (Beauty and the Beast) and when the stage was dark and the fire shooting up from the front of the stage but even she enjoyed it (despite probably not getting any of the jokes).

Anyway it is 29 for me please as there isn't big enough force to get me out of this house today.

Oh, Jo's car trouble reminds me of the time when I was still living with my ex. After work I went to pick DD up from the nursery and when leaving the nursery and heading home the car would not start. It would start properly every other time but that was the only time of the day it gave trouble. After I made a decision to move out my car worked perfectly. Spooky.

Angie: That is excellent!!! Can I put you down for 31 for December? HSstars.gif

Hi DD....no please don`t feel like that....you are doing brilliantly !! Every single day AF is such an achievement & honestly it was something I just was not able to do at all before August.

Something happened in my life that effected me very badly & I realised that I could not risk another episode so my total abstinence has partly been enforced.

Thankfully I now know that my drinking was habit & I so have replaced the drink with a non alcoholic drink & thankfully stuck to it.

I wish I could have cut down & not have a drink every day but I am not that strong. At least if its off limits totally then I don`t have to make or think about the decision to drink or not.

Not sure if that makes sense...I`m rambling...sorry.

    Angiexx

    makes perfect sense to me.

almost 900 days in now and I had to keep it simple.

what used to drive me mad was the indecision in my head about whether I would drink or not...it was like I was inviting my own trouble.

what has worked for me so far is to fix my own sense of identity : "I am me, I don't drink, you can't make me. "

Anything vague or maybe or wishy-washy just led to chaos...

take care...may the good will of all those doing their best be with you all.

hi can you add another 4 for me please - that's including today and yesterday! I decided Friday I had enough for the weekend! So at least I got to double figures!

so am on 10 now pls GG
  • 1 more for me please gg

Off now until the 14th Dec so must stay strong ;)
  • Evening everyone

Jo - glad car is sort of sorted. Don't beat yourself up over the guinness. I know when I've had a hell of a day with Piglet those wine bells start ringing a lot earlier and a LOT louder. Write it off and move on. You've still done amazingly well so you should be proud of yourself!

Maman - you're a stronger person than me. I find doing parties sober is very very hard. I HAVE done it in the past but its taken a lot of effort. Well done you!

Marru - Sorry to hear about BF. I hope he's ok and it doesn't hit him too hard.

Angie - 1000 days! Thats a big undertaking and more power to you for deciding to go for it. I wish I had as much willpower as you do!

Well, here in the Piglet household its been an eventful day. Me and stepson braved Argos this morning....god that place is awful, a right free-for-all! Then we took Piglet to a play area. He had a fab time but towards the end he whacked his thumb on the bottom of a slide and was inconsolable. For a while I thought he may have broken it, but he could move it without too much pain. For a couple of hours we were tossing up whether to take him to the walk-in centre. But he has improved so think its fine. It put him in a horrible mood though. OH has just gone to take his son home so has taken Piglet with him for the ride (and to give me a break!). Its an hour and a bit round trip so may go and soak in bath after wrapping a couple of presents.

Those bells are most definately ringing but I'm trying to ignore them. Had a drink last night so don't want to tonight.

Off to wrap a space rocket and an espresso machine. Lets hope I get them round the right way, don't think my Dad would appreciate a space rocket for his 60th birthday!!!:rotfl:

    Hi all

Oh Jo, I really feel for you, what a nightmare you've had- don't worry about the blip, it was just a can-if I'd had such a stressful day 4 yrs ago I would have reached for far more than that. Hope next week is less stressful for you.

SSAngel-totally get your rationale about the all or nothing. Thats why I can't drink at all- if I have one I get the taste for it and within days I used to be back in my black hole craving the bloody stuff from the moment I woke up to when I passed out in the evening (sometimes earlier). I don't know why some of us on here can't drink moderately and some people here can-I just know I can't drink at all. I still crave it though-I went to a freinds yesterday and shes got one of those mulled wine smelling airfreshners-little voice in my head started saying-it won't hurt at xmas to have a few to be sociable....luckily I've got enough experience of where that leads now to know that I'm not gonna fall for that one again.

Congrats Bis on 900 days!!!! I'd love to know how such long sobriety has changed your life.

Hope everyone is well, and those that aren't get better soon- take care everyone.

    Hello

Can I join you? I have decided that it is time to take my drinking in hand - too many lost things, too much money wasted, too many risky walks home late at night... this board is full of supportive people and I think that it might help me to sort myself out - I know what it's like when your friends and family are "in denial" and almost don't want you to stop drinking and when you go for help and the doctor takes the same view... It is up to me alone to do this!

I want to do 20 days AF in December...:A

HSsnowwelcome.gifSquizz, your December pledge has been noted and added into spreadsheet.

I am doing my xmas shopping from the comfort of my home. BF is now sorted and next I am going to find something for DD, then I only need to arrange one flower delivery closer to Christmas and the rest of the people get second hand books of which I have plenty and then I am all done :D
