Good Morning... its a beautiful autumn day here... pouring with rain and soggy leaves everywhere... my 2 cats keep running in and out, hoping its stopped then discovering it hasn't..unfortunately there brakes don't work on the laminate flooring so they don't stop skidding until they rech the front door.... ho hum, why did i wash the floors yesterday...:D
Feeling much better today, thank you all for your kind words and thoughts... I am hosting a girls night for my sis tonight so expect more tears will flow, but I shall go easy on the A stuff.. for my sanity and my liver.... still haven't decided on target for November, all will be clearer after the 11th November for me, and I am away next weekend with a GF, not sure if that's good or bad timing with sis disappearing on the 11th... ho hum.. although I will drink less.. always do when away..must be having company, not so lonely.. I am thinking up many challenges for myself to keep me busy for the rest of the year and I am looking forward to 2010... May even go AF then.... that's a may not a definate, but its the first time I've started thinking that I should... and all that savings would mean being able to visit sis and family more often....
Anyways, got house to clean..again.. food to prepare, ironing and washing to do, dd to chase for homework etc.. Have a good day one and all.. and Happy November...xxxAFD - J 19 J 11 A 2 S 10 Oct 6 N 0/?

PRICE_IS_RIGHT wrote: »Hi All
Well I've hit my rock bottom. I went out with DH and 3 DDs last night to celebrate DH's birthday and got completely drunk in the restaurant by drinking lots of wine. My DDs were embarrassed with their drunken mother. I just cannot control it when I start - I can't just have a couple of glasses of wine. I feel terrible both with guilt and physically. I've just got to cut it out completely.
I'm going to go for completely AF November ie 30 days, please GG. This is the first time I've set myself a completely AF target, but I've been finding that whilst it has got easier to ignore any cravings to achieve my targets each month, on my alcohol-allowed days, I've been drinking approx 12-14 units, which is a week's units in one night.
Sorry to be so despondent today. I'm going to make a real, real effort now. I've got to think of positive things about myself, I'm just feeling so annoyed with myself today.
Me too, and that is the same with many people, you are not alone! When I have a drink, I very rarely want to stop. I don't have a few drinks and think 'That's it now, I am satisfied and done' - I want to keep drinking.
I would occasionally get very drunk on celebratory nights out, and embarrass others. Most crucially, I would embarrass myself (if I could remember it all). Thus the physical hangover would be compounded by the guilt and shame of it all.
Embarrassing others through my own drinking used to mortify me, and like you, I would promise that I would never do it again, thinking I had hit my bottom. However, there were more occasions unfortunately.
It sounds like you really want to stop this time. Good luck. Stopping drinking alcohol is a doddle for those without a problem, but with those of an alcoholic persuasion, it can be very very hard.
I need to take it one day at a time, and rely on lots of support from others. That's the only thing that works for me.
I hope your quest to be alcohol free in November and beyond is successful.
Remember the guilt, shame, and self loathing that prompted you to write this message, and have a look at it if the cravings appear.0 -
Morning all
DC, well done on going for the full monty, good luckxx
WBF, my OH has smelt alcohol in the bedroom in the mornings before, that makes me feel sick because I can smell it in the bedroom after he goes out on a big drink up but not when he's only had a few so that tells me I must've really had a skinful  I remember a woman in the office coming into work with a serious hangover, sunglasses in winter, the lot! I went into her little cubby hole office and wooooo, the smell!! And that was at 9.30am in the morning
PIR, I was gonna say the same to you, you have a very expensive month too! It's DS's birthday on the 14th and OH's on the 17th. I feel bad but I don't think I'm going to be able to afford for DS to have a party this yearwe'll have to take him out somewhere really special and spoil him instead.
Shaggy, don't beat yourself up, you are usually so good!Good luck for Nov xx
Marru, happy birthday to your DDhow lucky getting a pony ride, my DD would love that after her having a ride on a donkey on the beach on holiday this year. She's decided she wants horse riding lessons  really don't think my funds stretch to that! Hope you have a great day celebrating
xx
T2GU, beautiful day? Are you nutsthe rain is lashing down here making such a racket. Hoping it eases off before I have to go out. It's also reminded me that I forgot to buy DS some new school shoes this week, typical self sabotage me, leave it till the afternoon before he has to go back  can't get away with it cos he's got a hole in one of his shoes and he's going on a school trip up to a London museum tomorrow so if it's lashing down with rain like this it could not only be quite embarrassing but very uncomfortable!
Fay, thanks for the update, aren't we all great
GG, good luck for November and thanks for scoring
Right, off to sort washing into piles now then get on with it, then off to buy school shoes I guess
Speak to you all later, good luck for a new shiny month, wipe the slate clean and start again if you need to

A doctor on his morning walk, noticed an older lady sitting on her front step smoking a cigar, so he walked up to her and said, "I couldn't help but notice how happy you look! What is your secret?"
"I smoke ten cigars a day," she said. "Before I go to bed, I smoke a nice big joint. Apart from that, I drink a whole bottle of Jack Daniels every week, and eat only junk food. On weekends, I pop pills, get la1d, and don't exercise at all."
"That is absolutely amazing! How old are you?"
"Thirty-four," she replied.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
