Not sure how to respond to that

Guess that's why I am a 'cutter downer' not a 'giver upper' at the moment

If you can cut down successfully, then great.
When I mean successfully I mean drinking within recommended guidelines, and also not feeling you are missing out by not being able to drink more.
Basically, being happy about your level of drinking.

If this doesn't work, maybe try abstention.
However, some people only really want to quit when they have lost something (job, family, driving licence, etc) so unfortunately some people have to be in pain for making and sticking to that decision to be AF

I'm glad you got on alright today BHB.

I had a doctor's appointment today and he referred me to a Drink/ Drugs misuse service (which I agreed to.) I said that I think the online support has been helpful but I know I can be doing better. It is difficult with dual diagnosis as my mental illness does affect my drinking patterns.

I will give it a chance anyway. I just said I didn't want to go to any group therapy sessions! That would be my idea of hell.

Well done BHB and 115K, glad you're getting some extra support.

Well done jo (and fay) and wb I hope you're still with us

I don't think I'm going to be AF tomorrow as I'm out for a posh supper but I like the idea of 'special days'. We could have Teetotal Tuesday or Sober Saturday (). Must go, feeling flippant. 5 hours 39 mins but I'm not counting!

I think you're getting closer to the answer bhb; last time you mentioned this scenario it was simply a wet fish, now you're starting to focus in on the type of fish. This could be significant.

Thats what I said to start with but have agreed to a support group. The 'reduction clinic' this morning was actually quite a hoot. Its not full of stereotypical drunks, but just normal friendly people like the lunatics on here ;):D. I feel much better about going to a proper support group now, but can't manage to get to the one tomorrow as it clashes with taking eldest son to physio.
