I'm taking my bridesmaids shopping on Saturday. Must get their dresses and shoes as they are the things they need to try on (they're travelling in for the day as they don't live locally any more).

Any tips? I have Friday off work so will be doing a recon mission round the bridal shops plus Monsoon/Coast/Phase Eight etc.
  • Debenhams have some lovely dresses too.
    BHS??

I'm looking at a dressmaker for my BM now. We'll see.
2012 wins: Panasonic home phone, Panasonic mobile phone, maple syrup and cookbook, £50 experience voucher, book, craft stuff, holiday in Ibiza, Dr Who Figures and 2 cinema tickets, bottle of Gin, 2X DVDs, Ipod touch, Moshi Monsters cay, Lipstick, Relaxation CD, £500 voucher for birdwatching holiday

Fingers crossed for an ITV win :D

    Guest list drawn up
Auntie is making our wedding cake
Hairdresser friend has offered to do mine and bridesmaids hairs for free as our wedding present!

Still have so much to do! Am taking my bridesmaids and mum shopping on sunday to hopefully find a dress. Can't try BM dresses yet as maid of honour is 7 months pregnant!

So how are we all getting on girls?

I took my bridesmaids shopping for their dresses on Saturday (one now lives in Edinburgh, one in Reading, and I'm in Essex, so it's a bit of a logistical challenge, hence the early shopping!).

Had sooo much fun. :D Think we're going for this one, in Cabernet (click on the third swatch along):

    http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/2056/#FabricList=8&attributeMask=131074&catid=1&displaytype=GridMedium&activePage=1&rpp=9&SortOrder=Default

It's not quite as mermaidy as it looks there - it doesn't come in so much from the hips as it does on the teeny tiny model. Just really classic and elegant with a little bit of a train. The beading under the bust adds the detail and is much more sparkly in real life. :D

Dessy make flip flops for the evening and clutch bags in all the dress colours, so going to get those too. (Bargains at £8 for the satin flip flops and £12 for the bags!).

Anyway, while doing that, I saw an AMAZING wedding dress in the window of one of the bridal shops. They had an appointment free so I tried it on and felt, just indescribable. I got full on jaw-drops from my mum and the girls when I came out in it. Though we're not sure if part of that was just because it was the first one they'd seen me in. Tried on a couple more after that but they didn't do anything for me in comparison. I'm going out shopping with mum on Sat 7th Nov to look properly, try on lots, and then inevitably go back and order that first one. ;)

Really glad I started looking now. Was originally going to leave it till January, but the front-runner has a six month lead time so Jan would have been too late!

    hey june girlies!!

heres my still to do list with amendments

    Stil do do: (OMG)

    • Choose vows and readings - registrar sent us some but I don't like them so I need to research
    • choose music for ceremony
    • choose 1st and last dance music
    • make cd for wedding breakfast
    • choose menu
    • meet wedding co ordinator (jan)
    • make menus, order of day, placecards, table plan, rsvp
    • [STRIKE]make bouquets and buttonholes[/STRIKE] all done!
    • order dresses - Bridesmaid day out coming up on 14/11 will make final decision and take measurements that day!
    • order groomsmen suits -Chosen suits will order from slaters on next trip to leeds
[STRIKE]set up wedding list[/STRIKE] - now swapped from john lewis to next but no items added - too early
    • [STRIKE]buy rings,[/STRIKE] choose engraving can't decide on engraving - may not bother -rings are in royal mail depot awaiting collection
    • book hotel for me for the night before
    • buy wedding cake ingredients and make - have decided to slyly add 1 ingredient to each weeks shopping to minimise budget - so far have marzipan
    • make favours and buy sweets for favours - first favour trial is tomorrow - halloween cookies (they'll be hearts for the wedding)
    • [STRIKE]book honeymoon[/STRIKE] - yay - its still a surprise for me though
    • make cake topper
Since my last post we have booked and payed for the night after the wedding as we are staying in London and the flight down there so we are ready to be in the airport the next morning - i'm seriously excited about the honeymoon

I've also been thinking a lot about after the wedding and honeymoon lol - about my name change and how our joint finances will change. I may start putting plans in place now so that I just need to put envelopes in the post once we get back

    New items added:

    • Prepare for name change
    • Populate gift list
    • send invites
    • make colouring book packs for kids
    • decide on hair, nails, make up
    • start practicing hair, nails, makeup!
Am back to work fully now and things are better but i'm trying to do silly little things at the moment rather than the big decisions like readings and music
Its not feeling real at all, but that may change once I pick up our rings, I think we are both really looking forward to getting away - my fiance and I usually go on 2-3 cheap holidays a year and due to the cost of the wedding and honeymoon we are waiting for the honeymoon, - this is probably the longest we have not been on a holiday and its only 6 months!! lol

We have just had some good news for us at work - our jobs have been declared safe after over a year of uncertainty - but with certainty our workload will increase by at least double in the coming months and there will be a lot of travel for me and h2b soon, i'm wondering if the brizilla in me will be able to cope come May, when we are on top of the wedding and its the busyist (sp) time at work
