Hi all, just waiting for tea to finish cooking, turkey casserole in the Remoska, new pots and broccoli. We finished up the butternut squash soup at lunch, sadly none left to freeze (why do my 3 males eat like horses?) s'pose its a compliment really.

DH took me to Abakhan fabric store,he went armed with 2 newspapers and his book to read in the car while he waited.I did feel a bit guilty, but thought about him looking at car bits all Sunday morning at the classic car show with me alongside, and the feeling soon passed :D .I got pieces of about 6 fabrics,a skirt pattern and a top pattern-keep me out of mischief for a while. Its a place you need a good root about,I sussed out the train station and its only a few mins walk,so thats a possibility next time. The only problem with that is I got a roll end of material that was still on the roll- can't see me on the train with that :rotfl: .

I left a spicy malt loaf in the BM,but I forgot to press the raisin dispenser and they got left in the top .Its more of a spicy bread now-still tastes good though, and the house smelled gorgeous when we came home.
TTFN-hope you are all feeling ok.

  • HariboJunkie - Yay for getting chickens! I wish I could here but a) the garden is communal, b) the garden is not secure, c) the garden slopes at 45 degrees, d) the cats would be far too helpful!

    walk-scot - A spinning wheel? Ooooh ...

mshon - Hope baby arrives soon. How long before they induce you? Assuming baby's being born in hospital, that is.

nic1lou2 - I never got on with WW recipes: smell bad, taste worse! Hope you like what you've made though :)

Penny-Pincher - When my mum was having chemo the nurses used to soak the hand to be used in v. hot water for a bit before trying to put the drip in as her veins weren't very good. Maybe that would help?

I've had a nice afternoon finishing off a knitted baby-blanket for my upstairs neighbour's grand-daughter who was born a couple of weeks ago. Dinner is nearly ready (chilli from the freezer). I've a migraine though which, if eating something doesn't help it, is going to see me retiring to bed soon :(

  • Evening all

I had a lovely day in work, I work with disadvantaged teens and we were doing mock interiews so they can practise their interview skills. We did proper ones, then some funny ones where they raided the fancy dress box and came in dressed as Elves, Santa, men as ladies etc!

I walked to work and back today :) it's a lovely 20miute walk, especially in the sun and made me feel virtuous! I don't really do exercise, but if I can walk to work twice a week (I do need the car somedays) then it's a bonus! Plus I've found that without the car I can't just pop to shops, so am saving money too :)

I didn't take lunch with me as I was meeting a friend at lunchime, but we popped to local cafe, got a sandwich and sat in the park in the sun.

I've just made HM pizza for tea (well not the base) and have enough sauce leftover to use for another meal on the weekend, pasta maybe, or to be frozen.

I'm going to curl up and read my book this evening.

    Have a good evening all

    valk-scot - A spinning wheel? Ooooh ...

It's not mine. I'm just taking it along to spinning Guild on Saturday. It's the Guild teaching wheel and I have to give it an overhaul before then.

Don't need it anyway. I've got my own wheels...:D

PP - sorry you're having such a tough time atm (((hugs)))you have my sympathy re not being able to find a vein easily as my DH has this problem, when he was ill last time nobody in the hospital could get one despite loads of attempts and a few bent needles, poor love really suffered and he's a big tough man. x

    Evening peeps

i`m totally bushed now that i`ve sat down.

I managed to get most things on my list done and i did manage to de-caterpillar the broccolli plants and they are safely stashed in the greenhouse along with some peas that i`ve moved in there to keep them company

I didn`t manage to make the elderberry cordial but maybe tomorrow, instead of the cake that i was going to make i made three apple crumbles with some apples that DSis gave me, the house smelt beautiful as i added lots of cinnamon to the mixture, i`ve made 5 portions of balti - 3 beef for me and 2 chicken for DH. These will go into the freezer and i`ve also made a huge chicken and mushroom pasta salad.

I`m working my way through the freezer and looking for things that i can cook and freeze to take to work, the idea behind this is that i can grab something from the freezer in the morning and it will be thawed by lunchtime. The problem is that as i`m thawing things out to cook i`m making even more food to freeze so the freezer is actually getting fuller instead of emptier

Had some visitors this afternoon hence the cordial not being made but it was a nice change to sit down for an hour in the middle of the day and have a natter, the houndies are always pleased to see visitors as they get lots of extra attention, little oldie has been a bit clingy today in between sleeps but he`s not been too good on his pins the last couple of days, the colder weather is good for him in some ways but not others.

i`m going to finish off in the kitchen in time to watch night at the museum which comes on at 9pm, looks like a good laugh.

Penny Pincher - Do you have a pound shop or 99p store nearby?
We have two at the local shopping centre and they sell the supports that you were asking about earlier, they are very popular as they are so cheap and yet so good, one lady told me that her GP recommended the store for them instead of the chemist.

    Have a good evening everyone.

  • Hi!

I'm currently working with Boots' to raise awareness about Swine Flu!

Swine Flu is easily spread, and it's important to ensure that we do not make it easier for more people to catch it. For this reason, it's important to not share food, drinks and mobile phones. Germs can easily be spread through the sharing of these items.

Secondly, if you're worried about any symptoms of Swine Flu, or what the symptoms are, it's free and easy to check them out online by visiting pandemicflu.direct.gov.uk

Finally, if you're worried you do have Swine Flu, keep to the adivice. Do not go to your GP, phone up 0800 151 35 13 and arrange for a friend, relative or neighbour to collect your medicine!

    Keep safe!
