    Good morning,

I was tired yesterday as I didn't get to sleep until late - my leg was sore. Gave in just after midnight and took a painkiller, then ds was up at 5:20am! I was debating if I should go back to bed yesterday afternoon, but that felt like a waste. I didn't get the things I wanted to achieve done, but I put my "making" head on and I do have 4 jars of green tomato chutney sitting on the kitchen counter :T I also managed to do all of the clothes washing, drying and ironing.

Today will be a house day after I've taken ds to school. I want to strip the beds and get the bedding washed and dried. I will be doing a bit sort out of ds's toys due to his birthday being in 2 months then Christmas the month after (that was what I wanted to do yesterday :o). I need to hoover round the sitting rooms too. Sometimes I'm amazed that we don't have mice. Even though ds sits still with his food, somehow we end up with crumbs everywhere.

I haven't had to put the heating on yet, as although our house is stupidly big and old, we now have most of the windows double glazed, and it's a mid terrace, so the houses either side help keep the heat in. I'm going to change the timer today though, for one hour in the morning and one about 4pm. That should keep us going for a while.

    Take care all of you
  • taplady - Many thanks for the list of abbreviations. I'm familiar with the general ones but don't know the OS/MSE-specific ones yet!

It's a beautiful day here today although I felt a definite nip when I let the cats out. I've had the heating on for the past week or so - just an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening to take the chill off. I do admire those of you who're hoping to hold out for longer but it's not for me this year.

OS things today - a trip to the library, knitting, dinner home-cooked from the freezer (think it's chilli).

Hope you all have a good one :)

  • Morning everyone

Sunnyday you put me to shame – so busy yesterday then up so early :T– I didn’t get up until 08:15.

MSD – you are so lucky with the weather – been horrible here in Kent the last few days does not look like it is going to be any better today. And what time did you get to Morrisons to get them bargains – WOW

Lillibet – I agree with you – how are children going to learn where there food is coming from – some parents need to toughen up for the sake of their kids LOL

For all those putting their heating on – don’t feel guilty about it – mine would be on too now after how cold it got yesterday evening – but we live in a village with no gas – so I just have economy 7 storage heaters and it just cost tooooooo much to put them on yet.

Went to see DD1 at hospital yesterday she has been in since Mon and is still waiting for an ultrasound and CT scan – she feeling a bit low but hopefully won’t be too much longer.

Plans for today are – get beef stew in slow cooker, do some washing and do on-line Tesco shop for next weeks food.

    Have a good day all

Chilly again this morning but dry at least with a breeze so might hang some washing out in a vain attempt to dry!

Day off today, need to take some books back to the library this morning and go pay some bills at the bank, most of my stuff is done over internet or by direct debit but odd one or two I still have to pay the "old" way! So whilst am in town will call at BM Bargains, Poundland and Wilkinsons for toiletries etc. Just love going round those shops.

Hairdresser is coming at tea time after she finishes work (she is a friend so does all our hair at home at a VERY resonable price) as I resemble Worzel Gummidge at the moment:rotfl: So will have to think of something quick and easy for tea, might do the others curry so they can help themselves when not having hair done with Jacket potatoes and I will have a jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn (sticking well to my diet). Then after that I have a Mr T delivery coming between 8 - 10 p.m. (cheap delivery slot) as we still have not got our car back from the garage.

Right off to hang washing out, then jump on the bus into town. Have a good day everyone. ((((Hugs)))) Diva and all who need or want them

  • Hi Guys!

Only a quick one from me.

Have another hospital visit lunch time today. Didnt manage to get DD out yesterday afternoon as I wasnt too good after treatment, so we hired out Angel & Demons and stayed in. It was a good film.

Got the cleaner here this morning and the WM has already been on 3 times this morning to catch up and get all the bedding done.

Anyway, hope you are all well.

    Morning all

Cold here today but dry:D. Feeling rough today.....had a good sleep but head pounding still and shivery and chesty cough. Have some ironing to do today but that will be about it, will take it easy and rest.
Tea will be mushroom and cream pasta and for DS it will be sausage, mash, carrots and gravy.....he has his meal before us as he cant cope with sitting at the table with other people...even the noise of their knife and fork and them eating is noisy for him and he wont let anyone talk at the table:rolleyes:....far easier to give him his first and we get ours in peace later....not what I planned when I had kids ut it is how it turned out...as a family we always ate together and chatted and I assumed I`d do the same with my child:o
MSD what a shame for you re your mum, that is very sad. At least you have sent her the card and flowers and she knows how you feel....families eh.
Thriftlady not bought Nigels book yet as trying not to spend but it is frustrating.....didnt realise Hugh`s had come out now too:eek: even more temptation.
Moliere do you get the Herbes de provence with the lavender in over there? I used to use it whenI lived in France and it was gorgeous.....cant find it here...maybe I could add my own lavender from the garden but not sure I would get the ratio right.
Bitsy hope all goes well at DS`s assessment and thanks for the PM the other day when I was ranting;)
Tru those eggs must be gold plated!!

well better get the ironing out of the way then i can relax:p

    Morning all!

Lack of sleep is seriously telling now, felt like I was turning green and about to burst out of my dressing gown when dd3 moaned and whined about getting up this morning! Early night for everyone tonight I think!

Have made a start on the bombsite, usually known as the kitchen! There is stuff everywhere, where on earth does it all come from, I have a HSM folder on the breakfast table with assorted paperwork, notebooks and matching pens, flour all over the butchers block and radio, coffee spilt in the microwave, tomato sauce on the floor, 5 different packs of coffee beans - all opened and spilling out - on the side by the kettle, a sink full of breakfast pots, iron and ironing board out. And that's after I've made a start! Reminds me of the thread that I think Gingham started yonks ago about having a fruit bowl full of crayons and keys and anything but fruit!

Anyhoo, OS stuff today will involve the kitchen, hoovering the bits ds missed last night - oh boy is he going to catch it tonight! Rule here is that if you don't do the job properly you do it for the next week - yes I am a wicked mother and I don't care! I can't be one of those people who take over, I want them to learn that they have to do it properly the first time and someone else won't pick up the jobs for them if they can't be bothered! Grump grump grump! Wouldn't be finishing it myself other than I have a friend coming round this afternoon!

More washing is def on the list, and I need to make some hobnobs for oh who apparently is hobnob deprived at the mo! Also might manage to make up some pizzas for the freezer for the kids on Saturday - am I mad, making them food for whilst their dad is here so that they don't get fed on takeaways?! Don't get me wrong, the love takeaways and I'm happy for them to have them with him, but they've started to moan that they want real food - go figure! Ex can cook, but I'll be left with chaos and no food if he does - I do leave lots of pasta and bits that he can do for their lunches though! Yeah okay, I am mad!

On the ex note, it's his birthday this weekend, kids were meant to be staying with him, as he's not staying here anymore, but somehow he is coming here! I shall be getting something from the kids for him, will ask what they want to get, then pop out tomorrow for it. Now my natural inclination is to get him a pressie from me, I know oh will think that is totally weird, but does anyone else do this?

Anyway, back to OS stuff, washing as always, some more yoghurt and cheese, changing beds and sorting through uniform shelf in my cupboard, as it keeps falling out on me and I'm sure ds doesn't still require stuff for age 7-8 now that he's almost 16! Will be off to dump, I mean donate, excess uniform on neighbours later, which reminds me, promised old blazer to one for her ds who starts upper school next Sept (darned things cost £38 and I'd rather it got more use than it ever saw with my ds!)

Lunch for kids was ham sarnies, fruit (combi of pear/apple/banana depending on child), penguin (oh the shame! and haven't they shrunk, or perhaps I'm used to my huge portions of homebaking!) and yoghurt.

Dinner for kids and oh will be sc brisket (already done, yay!), roasties and cauli cheese (god bless lidl's for their timely cauli offer!), followed by pineapple upside down cake or High School Musical cake (box was reduced to 25p, so thought dd3 would like it for the rice paper pics if nothing else!)

I am off out for pizza with my friend, for a good giggle and gossip, lately we haven't managed to get out much together due to work and kids and life etc, so will be really lovely and I'm looking forward to it enormously. Bargain pizza too, £5 for any pizza or pasta dish at lunchtime, usually around the £15 mark in the evenings!

Anyway, coffee and catchup now, will attempt to do something in the kitchen whilst the coffee brews! Have a good day all xx

  • mioliere - I watched NS's Simple suppers for first time last night. Whilst I enjoyed watching him cook I can't say his idea of leftovers is quite the same as mine :rotfl:

    .
I know what you mean. If you're roasting a chicken for 2 you're going to have loads leftover. My leftovers today are a few slices of tomato and a handful each of cooked peas and green beans. I'll make them into a salad with some crispy bacon and some other veg for my lunch. I'm going to watch the programme again later as OH was talking to me all through it -he's feeling better btw-not swine flu after all.

I'm off for a swim later, then back for my leftovers salad.

    Breakfast was pancakes
Lunchboxes have cheese rolls, banana or apricot and coconut muffins, plums or apples.
Supper will be macaroni cheese I think, and salad/peas

Very pleased at getting a refund from Amazon (see post on yesterday's daily). I'm just wondering whether to cancel my preorder of the new river Cottage book in case the drop the price of that one significantly too:think: Trouble is I want it asap!

    Anyway, have a productive day:wave:

Wasn't there quite enough nob talk on yesterday's daily? :p;):D

    Morning everyone :hello:

Very tired this morning.... Sleepless night brought on in no small part by some wierd goings on by my new neighbours. There appeared to be some kind of house blessing ceremony which invloved a dozen wailing, swaying women walking round the house for an hour and a half playing bongos.

I have done the bedrooms this morning and watered the garden and am now boiling up the carcass remains of last night's thai curry for soup.
Need to pop into the office, then go on to pick up a clothes airer from a freecyle person.
OH has finally relented and let me get chickens so we are going to look at housing and birds today. Will dismantle the girls trampoline and give to a friend at the weekend and build a run. :j
Need to go to the farm for eggs as well.

Friend coming for tea tonight and I'm doing my yummy mac cheese with bacon and HG salad.

Hope you hear from your mum Diva.

    Take care all

    Haribo x
