So if a millionaire owns 1000 acres and a racetrack with a collection of vintage cars DVLA registered in his name, that only use his race track; he will prosecuted for not paying for insurance he does not legally require (until now).

Wouldn't they just be registered as SORN as they aren't on the road?

I may be wrong but I've not seen a normal car insurance policy in over 20years that hasn't had some sort of clause in it like I posted.

Dealer policies and other specialist policies might be different but I would definately check with the company that it covers you on another vehicle with no other insurance on it.

None of mine in the past 20 years have ever had that stated on the certificate. That's all the police can request you produce and the only insurance information they have access to is whether or not you can drive other vehicles.

Often not on the certificate but hidden away in terms instead.
  • On the road insured, off the road SORN, is that difficult?
(Can't be my OH understands it)

No one said it was difficult to understand Bob.

What was said is that it will add cost to people who keep cars taxed (but off the road) and only insure them when they need to use them on the road.
