Phone you local council and tell them it has been abandoned.
Also report it to DVLA via web and phone.
I did the web thing but got no response, phone call seemed to work with a car that had been untaxed and on the road for six months0 -
I'll have it if its any good.harveybobbles wrote: »Oh this car hasn't moved all the time it's been there. Infact it looks quite obvious it's been dumped the way it's parked right upto the hedge...
My dad once saw an abandoned citroen 2CV (quite a tradition in our family!) and called up the council to ask if he could have it. They said they'd 'make enquirie' and unsurprisingly we didn't get it. I was very young at the time so I don't really know what happened.
But yes I think it is the council who deal with that kinda thing as I said. After all, they grit the roads, mend potholes etc.0 -
A friend of mine is too ill to use her car at the moment and hence has not renewed her insurance until he is given the Medical ok the insurance ran out 20 June 09. I take the car out at least one every two weeks just to run it out using my own third party cover from my own car insurance. Car is taxed.
The car is only worth a couple hundred pounds and I know that the third will cover the other persons car thats all fine.
My issue here is where do we stand on this? It is parked on private property and not keep on the road.
Also this applicable to Northern Ireland?0 -

You need to stop doing that right away!
Check your insurance, your third party cover will only be valid on a motor vehicle that already has insurance elsewhere. You have been driving that car uninsured.0 -

"Another stealth tax on the way."
When is the public going to launch vigilante arrests and punishment against these criminals - the police are the public too. High time they got the Tower of London treatment for their theft of public monies, costs of investigation into this theft, illegal usage of military units, fradulent expenses claims.
Why are they even being given the time and authority to invent more ways to ruin our lives. The innocent public end up sprayed on the sides of buildings and in mushroom clouds whilst they get away without a scratch. Even Obama is at more risk than these !!!!!!!s and he is trying to find ways of improving lives.
Surely with all the drug dealers, serial killers, islamic extremists, right-wingers, cannibals, and nutters in a country of 65million, some of them can do society a favour.
A few hundred years ago, such activities of those in power would have lead to them being taken to the Tower and the remnants being diplayed on the bridge and the four corners of the country.
That was when it was "GREAT Britain."
Says something wouldn't you say. This would be like buying a ferrari and them saying; oh well we found out the V8 broke the drive shafts so we just put this lawnmower engine in instead. 99% of the people wont tell the difference and we save money on drive shaft replacements!!!:rotfl:0 -

I may be wrong but I've not seen a normal car insurance policy in over 20years that hasn't had some sort of clause in it like I posted.
Dealer policies and other specialist policies might be different but I would definately check with the company that it covers you on another vehicle with no other insurance on it.0 -
It is a stealth tax, because it is requiring you to pay for something (ie. keeping a car on private property) that you didn't have to before, and.Chippy_Minton wrote: »Where's the stealth tax then?
Insure your vehicle or declare it off the road and you won't pay, simple really.
I don't see why a car should need to be insured if it is locked away unused in a garage.0 -
So if a millionaire owns 1000 acres and a racetrack with a collection of vintage cars DVLA registered in his name, that use his race track and are insured for tour days; he will prosecuted for not paying for insurance he does not legally require (until now).
Solution register them to Henry Agonbongaduuapou of 666 Devil's House, Downing Street, Westminster, SU14CO UK. www.brown-sux.co.ckThis would be like buying a ferrari and them saying; oh well we found out the V8 broke the drive shafts so we just put this lawnmower engine in instead. 99% of the people wont tell the difference and we save money on drive shaft replacements!!!:rotfl:0 -
