  • Hi

When I spoke to the lady this morning re. HB she told me I was £45 and pennies in arrears with my rent, But as my rent is calulated fortnighty and I pay weekly this weeks payment would have covered arrears. She agreed with me that IS would cover this weeks rent so therefore I don't think I will have to pay anything. Please correct me if I am wrong. If it is only £45 I am sure once my IS is sorted out I will be able to catch up with any unpaid amount.

I will go down to the jobcentre in the morning before I go to the council and ask them about a letter confirming IS. They may be able to do it there as I had to hand the forms in there.

Any ideas on how long I should wait before I phone DWP to see how IC claim is getting on.

About the other matter letter did not arrive. x

My Income support was different as it topped up my maternity pay, but I did have to have an interview, think you have to have an interview before they release any money.
(I'm just going by guesswork!) x

  • hi thankyou for your reply x
  • You Said?

"As I have my WTC and CTC going into my account on Saturday and dont have to pay rent off it I dont think I will bother with a crisis loan (after the hassel with IS claim ie 2 hour phone call)."

    Pay attention to this?

As a couple your due just over £100 weekly, if you have weekly SSP at £79 + WTC at anything over £22 weekly you will not get any Income Support?

WTC continues for 4 weeks once you stop it so your not due any income support.
  • Hi bigbill,

I haven't stopped my wtc yet they told me to wait until IS was sorted out. I think I get what you mean I will have an overpayment of wtc so therefore should still be paying my rent is that right. I was at the council this morning and I am already getting a rebate of £25 so should I still be paying the differance. Please let me know if this is right as I dont want to put myself in arrears with my rent. x

You wont be overpaid WTC as your still fully entitled to it until your SSP period ends.
  • Yes i know that but i was told better to claim IS as i would get full CT and HB benefit. I cant afford to pay full CT and Rent off £140.00 a week ssp, wtc, ctc and cb. I will probable end with the same amount of money but will have no rent or ct to pay (execpt water rates). Please correct me if this is wrong. x

As a couple for HB purposes you have £10 ignored from the SSP, when you have excess income over what you would be due form Income Support you pay out the excess at 65% to your rent and 20% to your CT so you are left with the remaining 15%.

So in a round about way what I am saying is you will end up richer by keeping WTC in payment for as long as you can.

Its not a case of if your not on Income Support so you pay all your rent and council tax its done an a means test and your excess income.
  • Hi bill,

I think I get what you mean % mean nothing to me. I will go onto the entilled link and what it comes up with. Thanks x
