  • As a couple your due just over £100 weekly, if you have weekly SSP at £79 + WTC at anything over £22 weekly you will not get any Income Support?

mum2one, please do not refer people to CAB needlessly. They do a great job, but they are overwhelmed at the moment, and as the OP has the information that they need, an appt at CAB will be a waste of very valuable time for the OP and the CAB advisor.

OP, the SSP1 form would usually only be supplied by your employer if your SSP entitlement has been exhausted, or you have no entitlement (for instance, if you do not work enough hours). If the JCP are requesting this, give them a call and tell them that you are still in receipt of SSP. There is nothing CAB can do at this time.
    Gone ... or have I?

SSP is 28 weeks minimum. Employers can extend sick pay periods though if they wish to.
  • Hi soz back with another question. I handed in the forms today to claim income support they said it could take 2-3 weeks to sort out. They also said i could apply for a crisis loan in the mean time is it worth it. I have a letter from my employer stating that i will now receive only ssp. At the moment i am still paying full rent and council tax. Should I take this letter to the council as part of my claim for rent and council tax rebate.

Thanx nasa for ur reply i dont think my employer will extend sick pay period but you never know. x

A crisis loan is like an emergency payment, if you have rent etc to meet and there could be problems if you don't pay, they may say no, but theres no harm in applying.

The good thing is the letter off your employer as it confirms your position and can be confirmed with the employer (apologies if that sounds double dutch), I don't know whether the council will accept the letter, but as the old saying goes, if you don't try you don't know.

Glad u've got the IS claim in progress xx

  • HI Mum2one,

I called the council this morning. I was advised to canel my standing order for my rent and pay what I could afford (at the moment £0.00). I have to take the letter from my employer down to the council tomorow, I have to take my wage slip and award notice for IS to them as soon as they arrive. They asked if I could get confitmation that I have claimed IS not quite sure how I would do this. As my claim for IS was started last week this weeks rent will be covered by IS.

As I have my WTC and CTC going into my account on Saturday and dont have to pay rent off it I dont think I will bother with a crisis loan (after the hassel with IS claim ie 2 hour phone call).

About the other matter I have just had a call from my MSP and DR has sent a letter to me (which hasn't arrived yet because of postal dispute) so finger crossed. x

I know it may sound daft, but is there anyway you can pay a £1.00, just that way it shows ur trying to pay, and may show goodwill from ur side.

good, at least there taking notice

It may be worth giving the jobcentre plus, they may give u a different number to ring, and ask for a letter confirming ur IS claim.

The positives you contacted Housing benefit, from the start, think they can backdate the payment to the application date.
You've contacted the houseing, - so at least there aware of the situation, its just the frustration of waiting. x
