    It wasn't unclear before.

None of your post above is relevant.

It is STILL none of your business. Which is exactly what the Police told you.

while I accept that as I wasnt present on scene they couldnt discuss it where do you think none of my post was relevant?
I indicated it was off subject.
and I phoned police on behalf of my elderly mum
oh - and just incase anyone was wondering - the deceased was my mums friends husband who was about to take them shopping and go for meal.he apparently had heart attack - had one previously so no PM..... oh and in case any one else is wondering - the son couldnt take it to court - lack of evidence even though his wife thought he prob had couple hundred pounds in wallet!!! and they both saw PC pocket it! and thought it would be returned!

That's a bit unbelievable. Presumably an unexplained death, and the police would be very careful to find out why that death had happened and would have secured the scene. The finders of the body would have been interviewed by senior police officers and would have been allowed to tell their story and exactly what they'd seen.

I think you've watched too much Inspector Morse. At an sudden death you'll get 2 or 3 student officers - because attending a sudden death is something they need to get signed off before being allowed out on their own - and their tutors. You'll probably also get a local response officer, because the students and their tutors won't want to take on the long-term paperwork.

If it's suspicious the on call detective constable may get called out.
  • Adrian - don't think that investigations are based on trainees getting ticks in their boxes or whether they can be bothered to follow things through.

    OP

    Easy solution.

Get a friend to go into said cop shop, and say:

"Hello, My name is Chris, I like heavy metal, I wouldn't suppose you've had an iPod Nano handed in?"

    Everyone's happy ...

Except Chris, but then he's into metal ...

Interesting....so your Mother and your Mothers friend who was the wife of the deceased found that he had suddenly just collasped in the garage as he was preparing to move the car to take them shopping.

So the police were called out before a ambulance or doctor and searched the body before the arrival of ambulance or doctor?

And the police pocketed the deceaseds wallet in front of witnesses?

Are you serious? You phone 999 and the person on the other end thinks "Oh, a sudden death, lets see if we have any trainees that need to attend one".

I don't know where you live, but where I live if you dial 999 you always get the two coppers who are nearest to your location.
  • Tandraig are you getting battered on here too , i thought you would have learned after the pc world fiasco :D

If the person is obviously dead the ambulance / doctor do not normally come as a matter of urgency. My friend found her father recently and the ambulance service told her they would be there in approximately 40 minutes as there was obviously nothing they could do
