You can get "no knockers" stickers to put on your door.

As you can see from my user name, this is also my all-time-hate !
    Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
I have to sleep during the afternoon, and I get woke up several times a week. I have this notice printed on pink paper stuck to my front door.---
    PLEASE - DO NOT KNOCK
    AT THIS DOOR UNLESS YOU
    ARE INVITED and EXPECTED.
    NO utility sales/advice.
NO charity collectors, bogus or real.
    NO home improvement sales.
    NO religion.
    Thank you.

It makes very little difference. I have even removed the batteries from my door bell. The worst in my area are RSPCA and various charity collectors, Safestyle, Talk Talk, and the local church who come round with small booklets but insist on giving them to you personally.
Of course, having the notice and knowing that they have totally disregarded it just makes my blood boil even more. Safestyle have the ready made answer that they are dyslexic or can't read and write - and to be honest it is best not to argue with them because they will openly make threats of violence.
For the charities, if I see them in the area I look up on the Internet what the charity directors etc pay themselves - usually £millions. With the RSPCA I saw they were spending £1.8 million a year on door to door collecting, which is disgusting. Of course they aren't exactly collecting, they are insisting you give £2 or £3 a month via direct debit. Then if you sign up, they harass you with phone calls to increase the amount to £10 a month.
Another thing to be wary of is the bogus-official door knockers. My 82 year old mother was beaten and robbed by one. She picked him out on id photos but nothing was done as he lives on a gypsy camp. Oh sorry - that is racist ! (apparently).
Door knocking should be totally banned to protect pensioners.

It must be really bad for people who work nightshifts and have all these 'tards waking them up all the time.

This morning, we've had 2 knocks - 1 to ask if we wanted our car washing, the other to ask if we wanted the trees in our front garden lopped.

The other day someone knocked on my door to ask if I wanted any work doing to the trees on the council land in front of my property...! I politely suggested that maybe I wasn't the best person to speak to about them. But honestly!

    Count your blessings!:j

I think i'm going to have my doorbell ringing barking dogs to scare them away
  • This drives me bonkers too!

Every day, I have at least two callers, asking if I want my roof repaired or my guttering fixed as they're doing work down the road and just so happened to notice my house is falling apart.......

The best one was the two girls yesterday, who woke me up from a much needed nap, to say that they were just wondering if my house had a BT line or cable! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking of getting a shotgun licence!!
  • Thankfully we have secure entry, however last week two people said they were here to read the meter in our communal area - but knocked on my door and tried to get me to switch suppliers - i said no and they said can you just sign this to say we have been - so i told them I'll sign it and when i check (a site used in my job) and i find out we have been switched i will not be very pleased!!! - needless to say they - oh sorry we don't need your signature afteralll!!!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I used to work with an incredibly hot young lady who was a JH and actively did door knocking duties. I still sit here waiting for her to knock on my door. She wouldn't be let out again :D.

I work during the day and i would get real peeved if i had to answer the door for charities, sales people etc (whilst trying to sleep after working nights) but as i work days i dont have to put up with it but what i do hate is when i sit down to watch some tv whether its the football, a film or something on the V+ box and the phone rings or the door bell goes
