Egg whites freeze well. Just put into a little freezer tub.0

Keep them in the fridge overnight and make scrambled egg whites on toast in the morning.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0

Hi,
I haven't posted for ages, but have been happily reading away... I have managed to get my weekly shopping down from £70-£80 per week to £30-£40 per week (family of four) and its all thanks to this forum and the debt free wannabe guys.... so a big thank you to start off with
Now.... I am making scrambled eggs for my girls tonight (9months and 4yrs) and I am just using the yolks... so what do I do with the leftover egg whites??? I know they freeze well... and I can do that (just:rolleyes: )... but then what do I do with them???
Any ideas gratefully recieved.

make meruignes (excuse my spelling - haven't a clue how to spell this one!)
whip up the whites in a squeaky clean bowl with some sugar until stiff and glossy. Drop spoonfuls onto a baking sheet lined with greaseproof paper and bake in a very low oven (about 100c) for between 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
sandwich together with whipped cream and seasonal fruit or serve with icce cream. They keep well for a few days in a tight lidded container.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
why are not giving them the whole egg?? (Just asking)0

Hi guys...
thanks for the replies....
I will have a go at meringues... sound easy enough... even for me :0)
I am not using the whole eggs as my youngest is only nine months and apparently you shouldn't use egg white until they are at least one... an allergy thing apparently!!! and seeing as my youngest will only have a small portion, I thought it would be easier just to make one medium batch... give the majority to my eldest and then a small amount to the youngest...
This is going to sound awful but... I have never made scrambled egg... so I am hoping it is just chuck it in a pan and keep stiring... is that right???
Thanks again

Scrambled egg:
Egg in pan with milk, butter and seasoning and keep them moving!!! If it starts to stick, turn the heat down and remember they'll keep cooking for a couple of minutes after the heat's been turned off
Make meringue snowmen/ghosts for the kids. Just pipe onto a baking tray and bake. Decorate with icingComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Thanks for that... I had no idea I had to add milk and butter... I am such a dunce when it comes to "savoury" cooking... am good at cakes and biscuits though!!!:j
Great idea for the meringue... I can get my eldest to help decorate....
