Had a browse om tesco.com and have a few ideas...
£1.02 Red lentils 500g
57p Chick peas 500g
50p Value brown bread (but might find something reduced)
46p Value cottage cheese 250g
39p Value dried spagetti
8p 2 tins value curry sauce:eek:
29p tin value baked beans
So sub total of £3.31
£4 3litres of Lambrini:beer: which I'd like to say would last 2 weeks, but...:rotfl:
So...£7.31
Leaving £2.69 for whatever fruit and veg I can get ?????

I think you should read Weezl74's posts on how to eat healthily on 50p per day (a few years ago): http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1157641
I have also studied nutrition and I think it does matter, very much. I wouldn't dream of giving up my wine either but skipping meals is not the way to go. Maybe I am biased as I made myself very ill indeed through stress, insomnia, the whole poor nutrition/ lack of exercise/ self-medicating thing.
I promise you that it is possible to successfully treat your own anxiety issues purely through eating well, physical activity, relaxation (a little wine!) etc. I know because I have done so. My suggestion would be porridge with raisins for breakfast as it's cheap, filling, very nutritious and there is evidence that oats are good for stress. Use milk powder if you want to make it extra cheap.

with regard to not claiming JSA until your deed poll has come through, will your NI number not stay the same? If so, would this not make it easier - it might just be a change of claim name, rather than a full new claim. Taking into account the time you may have to wait once your claim has been made I would try and claim as soon as you possibly can. I doubt they'll backdate your claim if not.0

Even on JSA (which you said in a previous thread you were claiming) there should be more than that
Not meaning to pry, but it looks like you need to reassess your budget.

JSA is not enough for a single person household to live on. I had to do the maths a couple of years ago and I genuinely could not pay my basic bills and still eat. By basic bills I mean the survival stuff, not mobile phones or car or anything. The OP is sharing so that does improve matters greatly: luckily I never needed to claim!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

I did the maths recently, too, to see if it was possible to eat a reasonable diet on JSA, and I worked out that it isI work in CAB, so look at these figures weekly, helping clients wiht their budget.

As long as I can still buy a bar or two of chocolate, I'd forgo the wine0

In tesco`s it cost just under £5 for a box of wine which is the equivelant of 3 bottles, a fiver every few weeks means less spent on wine and more on food.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0

thriftlady wrote: »Good tip;) But that only works if you have the discipline to spread it out. See, me and the OH would be rubbish with a box. This week I bought our weekly wine ration of 3 bottles (Fri, Sat & Sun) yesterday because I didn't want to go to the shops again this week. We drank one of them last night:rolleyes::D We are so hopeless I think we will actually have to buy each bottle the day we want it.
So glad I'm not the only one with that problem...:oSW Convert - started 20/09/09 -3 Stone to lose!!
So far lost 11 1/2lbs :j0
