LOL, I heard Ultra Pro Elite Laser Retinal Scan 2012 Platinum Edition was better :rotfl: Who comes up with these names and why don't they want people to take them seriously?
Bit pricey too. You remind me of the broadbandings guy.
To be honest that sounds like a fairly average discount on a treatment costing that much. So what did you do, use the 790 quid to buy the wife something nice so that she would agree?
Keep this topic as Martin stated in the opening post, as cost cutting tips for laser eye surgery.
And NOT for Trolls like "DELETED USER" trying to spoil it

Optimax, i had consult with OE and a couple in London as well and after doing much research into skill of doctor, aftercare and reviews etc decided to go with them
If you mean you are nervous about the actual surgery then my advice would be do some research into the actual doctor who is due to undertake your procedure
Good Luck0 -

I went with Ultralase in Bristol today and had the Wavefront Ultra Plus treatment in both eyes (apparently I didn't need the Eite, I think that's more for short sited people). I'm slightly long sited and was beinging to have to strain my eyes and vision was going a bit blury, I've never worn contacts or glasses as I didn't like the idea.
I had a consultation with the 3 major companies to get a good comparison.
All I can say is you don't want to mess around when it comes to your eyes, Ultralase seemed by far the most competent company, you even get sent a portfolio of the different surgeons you can choose from, they each had a minimum of 12,000 laser eye surgery operations under there belt, so they come across very proffesional and experienced. The fact that they have a life time guarantee, the clinic the very clean, relaxing and friendly especially in comparison to the others also helped make my decision. In my opinion it was worth paying that little bit more for.
I was quoted £3590, however I was able to negotiate a better price after a bit of haggling. They asked that I didn't disclose the actual price, which is understandable.
As for the treatment: I was pretty anxious, I was percribed a small dosage of Diazepam by my GP, all I can say is this worked absolute wonders! It helped me get a great nights sleep the night before & a good rest after the surgery, plus I had no anxioty or worry in the slightest when it came to the surgery. IMO it should be offered as standard, I have read in America, clients are offered 20mg of Diazepam/Vallium prior to surgery as standard, obviously the laws in England are slightly different, but of you can get a small prescription I would highly recommend it.
To begin with I was given a number of different eye drops to compley numb the eyes. These worked brilliantly and I really couldn't feel anything. When I went through to the treatment room, I had mentally prepared myself for a daunting experience, however I really didn't need to worry in the slightest.
I couldn't feel or notice the flaps being cut or lifted, and the laser was very dim and not discomforting at all. A few minutes later and job done!
I have to use eye drops very regularly for a few days now, and there are a number of checkups, but already my eyes are beginning to settle.
I wouldn't actually say the initial consultation was harser on my eyes than the actual surgery.
All I can say is try not to be nervous about it, its not as bad as it sounds. From my experiance so far I would recommend it to anyone!0 -
Hi All
Had my surgery yesterday and check up today with Optimax. Had the lasik intralase wavefront procedure which went well and now have 20/20 vision. Overall experience has been well worth it and I would recommend that you do the research and have at least 2 consults if not more and go with who you feel most comfortable with. In comparisons to others i felt they had good service, like the fact they ONLY do laser at their surgery so there are not people in there looking for glasses etc and managed to get it for £1740 on 18 month interest fee working out at less than £100 a month with lifetime aftercare.
Tips regarding procedure are try not to feel nervous, ways to do this would be to research the doctor who is due to do your surgery i think this is one of most important things to consider, although procedure itself takes no more than 15mins, always good to know doctor has performed thousands of procedures beforehand. Stick with aftercare regime and you will be fine
Good luck to all and if anyone wants advice etc feel free to pm (won't be on this thread again)0 -

Just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to have Eye Surgery whilst on maternity leave and breast feeding.
Would also be grateful for any current vouchers or discount codes.
Been meaning to do this for ages but using babies/pregnancy as an excuse!
Thanks0
