I have decided to have surgery with Ultralase who have offered me the top treatment (Ultra Elite) for £2500 if I do it tomorrow.....
My question is, what is the best way to pay for this? I am concerned about using a credit company (interest free 24 months) - I can't actually use it myself, would need to have someone have it in their name - and my parents are a bit sceptical about doing that for me because of horror stories regarding late direct debits and being charged loads of interest.
I was offered a deal whereby I can put down £1000 deposit and have the finance interest free through UL, for 24 months in my name.
Also considering paying up front. If I do this, should I pay on a CC or what? What is the best way to do this!! Help please!!!
Hi Rolanda
I used Ultralase and the credit they offered, its £70 a month and I have had no problems whatsoever, although I have never made a late payment to them

Hi All
I had a consultation @ Ultralase last week and was tempted to go through with the treatment
I was quoted nearly £5K in total, however after reading and searching around i was wondering if anyone knows of any good deals.
I am thinking of having a consultation @ Optimax and search around a few others but not sure how everyone compares. I have read many reviews and ultralase seem to stand out but tend to be the more pricey company
If you know of any good offers @ present please let me know
Thank you0 -
I have my consultation tomorrow @ 12.20 at Optical Express. My prescription is -1.75 in each eye.... will have to see what they say. I know it's short notice but anyone fancy scanning me a voucher to me for the £150 off - cheeky I know!
I may not sign up on the day, may wait and see what they offer me!

OK - I've been to Optical Express, just on way home on train. Everything went fine, I was hoping I would be offered the standard £395 per eye as my prescription is only -1.50 in each eye. Well, apparantly I would have been offered this if my pupils were smaller but he said they were too bigbig so recommeneded wavefront with, if I preferred lasik (blade) the laser one was £600 more expensive. So in total they quoted me £1890 lasik with wavefront. I said I had a voucher at home from a friend for £300 off so the price was reduced to £1590. There was no hard sell and I was encouraged to go to Optimax too, which I said I would. He said that they would also mention the size of my pupils and said he'd be certain they'd reccommend wavefront too. Just seems alot of money still..... Wonder if they'll be ringing me up and offering it cheaper....... What do people think? I've yet to go anywhere else.0

WOW - I admit things were a bit hazy in Primark after my consultation, but upon arriving back home I've just had the shock of my life... Whatever they put in my eyes made my pupils ENORMOUS. I look like puss in boots from Shrek!
It's not a good look.......... :rotfl: No wonder I had some funny looks in the shops and on the train back home!0 -

Hi there, I also went to Optical Express this week (i have a voucher for £300) & it was recommended that I have Intralase Wavefront £1495 each eye although they could also offer the Intralase £695 for right eye (-2.25) & £1095 for left eye (-2.75) & wondered if your quote £1890 was for both eyes. I'm thinking of opting for Intralase without Wavefront because of the cost.0 -
Hi - yes this price was for both eyes, however they wouldn't touch me without the wavefront because of my pupil size. Your prescription is slightly worse than mine, mine was only -1.5 in each eye....
Have they rung up and reduced the price since your consultation? Just wondering if they will try this.... I'm going to try Optimax too for a price next week.0 -
Hi, thanks for your reply, I haven't heard from Optical Express. I spoke to Optimax who are offering Wavefront Intralase at £2195 for both eyes which for me is cheaper but I don't really have an Optimax near enough, I may speak to Ultralase.0

On a seperate note has anyone used Viewpoint? They are in St Helens Hospital. They feature on todays Groupon email which I find slightly bizarre.0
