Does anybody know whether my eye prescriptions would be considered stable for the purposes of Laser Treatment. My inclination would be no but at my previous consultation with Ultralase (they did not have my history at hand) they said I would be a good candidate. My information is as follows:
2005 -
Right, Sphere -1.75 Cylinder -0.75 Axis 90
Left, Sphere -1.75 Cylinder -0.75 Axis 75
2007 -
Right, Sphere -2.0 Cylinder -0.75 Axis 90
Left, Sphere -2.25 Cylinder -0.75 Axis 75
2008 -
Right, Sphere -3.0 Cylinder -0.75 Axis 90
Left, Sphere -2.75 Cylinder -1.0 Axis 75
2009 -
Right, Sphere -3.5 Cylinder -0.75 Axis 100
Left, Sphere -3.25 Cylinder -1.25 Axis 80
Would this have any bearing on where I should have treatment (i.e Costs for re-treatment???)
Thanks in advance0 -
It also depends on your age. Myopia isn't likely to stabilise until mid 20s onwards. I guess your below that age at the moment?Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

I went for a consultation last week at Optical Express. Getting Waverfront done on 19th Feb. The lady there asked me where I worked and I got 10% corporate discount because I work for the council....I know with some companies though you can get up to 25%-definitely worth asking for
So do I:beer:0 -

It's not just your prescription that the laser eye clinic will have to assess. There is the health and condition of your eyes and the thickness of your corneas among other things.
Do your research thoroughly. High street clinics may not always have the same surgeon on call. Look for clinics that have the capability to deal with complications. Look at the technology they use (the laser) and whether they include wavefront diagnostics as part of the overall treatment. Do not be pressured into going with the first clinic you see - remember this is surgery and should not be 'sold'. Average prices for treatment vary between clinics. Ultralase is around £3,200 for treatment, Optical Express around £2,600 for treatment and Accuvision around £2,000. But check out each site to see what the patients have to say.
Hope this helps.
Do you work for Accuvision?0 -
Hi,
I had my eyes treated in January at Optical Express at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. Everything went fine and the staff were really nice (and calming!) I now have better than 20:20 vision!
I have some £150 'refer a friend' vouchers off Optical Express laser eye treatment (I will also get £150) as long as you book your consultation before 17th March 2010 and have the treatment before 31st March 2010 (at any Optical Express branch).
You have to quote a reference when you book the consultation over the phone and then produce the voucher at your consultation. PM me if you would like a voucher to use towards your treatment!

the vouchers are normally only valid for people paying the 1st stage full amount, and not when you get to the "discounted" price0

There are some great clinics abroad which do Laser Eye Surgery for next to nothing. We personally work with one of the top doctors in Romania - don't take this as advertising, but realise that while going elsewhere for this surgery you could have the best doctors (granted, out of a smaller total) for 30% of the price. This clinic also specialises in 1 day patients. Do the maths, 560Euro for one eye, take unpaid holiday from work for 3-4 days (maybe just two - take it at the end of the week) return flight low cost, 4* hotel room for about 35Euro a night - doesn't come close to 2000GBP / eye.

Hi,
Im 24 and considering laser eye surgery. I am short sighted and also have astigmatism. My prescription has not changed over past two years, but i wanted to ask whether you think i am too young, as this is the only issue i have with going ahead.
