Hi
I'm -5 and -6 and Optical Express have quoted me £2390 for Intralasik and £3190 for wavefront.
Whats the major difference between the two? Any recommendations?

note some people get standard lasik and gain excellent results even with night vision. Some get the full "works" inc wavefront and still get some problems. For example i still get some glare and sensitivity at night but am hoping this will gradually disappear!0 -

Just to fill you guys in on my experience. I had both eyes done just over a year ago with Ultralase. I had the wavefront version (I can't remember the exact name as it was a while ago, but it was the most expensive option.) They originally quoted nearly £4,000 for both eyes.
At the initial consultation I said I couldn't afford this, and left feeling a bit disappointed as I hadn't realised how expensive it would be. A couple of days later they called me back & said they would do the most expensive tecchie option for both eyes for £300 in total. Yup, £300. But only on the condition that I did it next day.
Apparently this was a special offer to selected people (10 per clinic), so I said yes and had it done. It was a bit scary, and the drops and eye shields were a faff, but I could see so much better the next day (20:20 the next day), and have had no problems. A year on, I have dry eyes occasionally and driving at night is a bit challenging due to blurry lights, but I can honestly say it was the best thing I've done as I had been wearing glasses since I was 8 and have now not worn them since.
I guess that my point is that sometimes they give out really good deals - and if so, they're not dodgy (I did ask if I was going to get a trainee surgeon!) just accept your luck is in.0 -

i had Intralase (bladeless) LASIK with wavefront 4 mths ago.
Optical express give you a choice of either the "blade" or laser cut for the lasik flap. Preference is really down to what you can afford. Many other clinics out down OE for offering the "blade" use but i think OE is offering LAS to those who cannot afford the high laser fees.
remember is not really a "blade" just a special surgical hand held cutting device, i have know people who have had this done and did not notice difference and gained very good vision afterwards.

i am very suprised by your story and the price. But i personally think one should not make Price the only factor when considering LAS. One needs to consider the aftercare from the clinic and the experience of the surgeon and his support staff.
I had initially wanted my eyes done by UL but they refused to give me more than £100 discount for LASIK costing about £3600. I tried all my haggling skills and they refused - despite the local clinic not being busy some days! Then after i decided to go with Optical Express, UL phone me and offered me surgery for around £3k but with a less experienced surgeon. My advice shop around and go where you feel comfortable and welcome. This is not buying a car its your eyes. I would not risk my eyes with a less experienced surgeon for a lower price IMHO.0 -
Is Advanced Wavefront the best procedure and really worth £3k??0

Am considering using Optical express Bromley. From what Mutley was saying earlier they quote based on prescription? Anyone have a quote for around -4 both eyes? Just so I know a rough cost to go into it with... £400 for each eye I can stand £3000 total (like some are saying they've been quoted) I can't...
I'm -4 in both, been quoted today £1495 per eye at Optical Express.0 -
Has anyone has Wavefront done and can tell me about experiences?0
