Hi everyone
Just an update on mine - now four weeks post surgery. Mr Warreen - cant remember what my prescription was - I think I was about - 1.75 in each eye with an astgmatism in the left eye.
My right eye is still perfect but my left eye doesnt seem to have caught up at all and I am back for a check up today so we will see what they say.
I do have a friend whi has had to have three top ups and when I was there the consultants auntie was having a top up so I think that is fairly common and doesnt bother me.
Despite my slow to catch up left eye, my overall vision is still great and I dont need glasses.
Does anyone know how long it takes before the eyes settle down completely and your final result is apparent?
Also, anyone else know of any red letter days that Optimax are having again?A friend wants his done but only on offer like me0 -

Hi Nomealone,
Dnt knw if youve read my posts about my experience, mine is over 4 weeks now and they are still keeping a check on it, my left eye is very blurry still and feels sore sometimes, its weird most of the posts i have read everyone is happy with the right eye and not the left.

Mine is over a year now and I have to go back to them and have another check up because I had slight scaring on my right eye that took longer to heal. In the meantime I have ben diagnosed as hyperthyroid, exact cause not determined yet, means overactive thyroid which can cause eye problems. probably explains the rotten inflammed eye I got last december/january. have no idea how long I have had the problem! Anyway, thyroid problems usually boil down to an autoimmune system issue, which means of course your body is fighting your thyroid rather than trying to heal your eye if you have had laser surgery.
I went from -3.75 left eye and -4.75 right to excellent vision, apart from a small blur at one edge of my vision on my right eye for quite some months. that is the eye with the higher correction, so of course it was going to take longer to heal, and now, I really don't see any difference to wearing my glasses, except of course the lack of inconvenience.
OPTIMAX I LOVE YOU, the glory of seeing my kids faces clearly, the fun in the swimming pool, there isn't any way to measure the joys. its been a year and half now and I still am stunned occasionally by this blessing.
I paid 395 per eye, plus an extra amount for the Wavefront due to my job, took the Epi lasik rather than one where they cut flaps due to my job hazards, I'll take the pain thank-you! Paid a total of about £960 for both eyes anyway, paid for one up front, and took their instalments option for the other one, which was only £23 a month and finishes this jan so only lasted 18 months, better than paying a lifetime of gritty contacts,
It was brilliant, maybe I have a higher pain threshold, but then I have had two children, and it doesn't even come close to that, and it was much quicker taking only half an hour!, although the delight falls into the same categories! I would have said more like having a scratch or BAD grit in your eyes under your contacts. but I just slept, to be honest, my husband had to wake me for food, and I just said yes and went straight back to sleep, ate nearly nothing for 3 days, so make sure you have a good meal a while before you go in! oh and make up junkies, be prepared to give it up for at least 2-3 months cos mascara and eyeshadow really stings for a while, especially while you have to put the drops in your eyes.
And get wrap-around shades.
don't know what offers they are doing at the moment, but I do have vouchers for £100 off if anyone wants one or has more questions, just PM me.Lightbulb Moment April 2005Total Owed - £68986  (excluding mortgage)Payplan DMP began Sept 2005Amount paid to Date - £15330, £53656 to goDebt Free Date - April 20210 -

had surgery yesterday with ultralase. the service was excellent, really friendly staff and the surgeon was great. explained everything and didnt hide the fact that complications can occur. i respected the fact he was honest...
even though l ended up having the most expensive treatment reaching almost £4000. the ultralasik plus with wavefront. however with the 10% discount on NHS manged to get the price down to £3500.
still pricey but l feel its worth every penny
I can now see clearly, no blurred or hazey vision. although my eyes are streaming bucket loads!!
teh only downside l found was that ppl say its pain free. l would argue that, cuz after about 30 min post surgery my eyes were killing and l couldnt open my eyes a single bit. my husband had to literally hold my hand and sit me in the car. Also my eyes really swelled up which l wasent expecting and they went blood shot (another suprise only cuz l wsaent told of these effects) but the swelling had dramatically reduced from yesterday and my eyes are not as red as they were.
overall l was impressed by the service of ultralase and wud definately recommend them, however be warned straight after it can be quite painful for a couple of hours, so rest is important. considering l was a -7 and been wearing glasses for 16 years. l feel so relieved l dont have to wear contact lenses or glasses ever again.:T LLB HONS :T
im well chuffed...........0 -
20% discount on laser eye surgery: lasikistanbul.blogspot.com.
20% of £799 is £159
£1299 - £159 = £1140 (includes flight to Turkey and 3 nights at hotel)
Add intralase to this and you get intralasik for £1439.

OK I took my Mrs. for her consultation with Optimax yesterday, After a few in-depth tests the consultant said she would be ok for the £395 each eye treatment which it appears not many people are able to get, but my Mrs. had already given the indication she was up for the more expensive less pain, quicker recuperation treatment. My Mrs. is unfortunately the easily lead type of person where if you told her by putting her head in the gas oven at mark 6 for half an hour, as long as the consultant who's an expert in these matters told her she'd do it and pay £1000 for the advice, me I'm a bit more realistic (tight !!!!) and realize the more they offer her with the latest technology the more profit and commission their going to earn, Anyway after me loosing interest and her doing the last bits and pieces by herself she came out and we walked down the road she said " You don't want to know how much it's going to cost" I said "Your right I don't want to know how much it's gonna costs" so we left it there. Anyway that evening she eventually said it's going to be over £3000 how much over I'm not sure so I said "Did you tell them your not a film star/celebrity" Apparently with all the boxes she'd ticked including some night time vision thing (guess she must be going on night time maneuvers somewhere) it came to that, of course she signed up for it as like I said she can be easily talked into anything. After a bit of research on the net it looks like other people who have been quoted that much and who don't take up the treatment straight off get contacted and by the end Optimax will virtually half that price and in this time of credit crisis I can only see their business is going to suffer big time, so in my opinion by waiting there will be some very good deals coming onboard. And ah yes my Mrs. is going to phone up and cancel today.0

I think Ultralse are about the same as what you have been quoted for Optimax. But if you do decide with Optimax print out the ebay Optimax offer 9yes they do sell free surgery slots on ebay) and the local clinic should honour it, but best to ring them and ask.
But if you do prefer Optical Express, dont forget my special bonus to MSE's users - get an EXTRA £25 off just for using my referral details!!

Jeremy,
I went to Optimax in May and was quoted ~£1800 for LASIK for a prescription of -4.75. Wave front brought it up to ~£2800. I was told intralase was optional for me, but would have brough the price to the same as you were quoted. Anyway, I decided it was too much and left it.
Last month I got a red letter - 'the works' for half price. So I had mine done last Thursday. My vision is pretty much spot on and there is hardly any pain now. It was ****** sore the first evening, but only felt a little tender for the next few days, due to a bit of bruising and swelling.
Optimax seem to be offering £100 for Refer a Friend now. I don't remember it being this high before.
Regards,
Nick.0
