Hi
I just made an appointment via the internet with ultralase, then I got a call back for more details, apparently the consultation is free, but he wanted my card details in case I didnt turn up for appointment and I would be charged £50, so I said theres defo no charge for consultation and I wont have to pay anything on the day, he said no, but couldnt wait to get the card details off me, if I cancel appointment I dont get charged either.
Is this usual practice has anyone else had this
Dont want fifty quid coming out of my account if I dont proceed with them
thanks

This normal practise for Ultralase. Suppose its a way of them making sure people dont make appointments and dont turn up. Optimax do the same - take a £30 deposit. Rest assured i have experience dealing with UL and Optimax and they do not take money from you without your consent.
Well everyone, went for the consultation and am having the treatment on friday:eek: , trying not to think about it too much tho!
Can anyone tell me how long before they felt okay, does it hurt much afterwards.......................Sam B0 -

It wasn't painful as such, just uncomfortable. I got a taxi straight home, took some painkillers and went straight to bed for a few hours. When I woke, the pain had eased and I sat up and watched TV... a truly unbelievable experience, being able to watch a small 14" TV at the far end of the room without my glasses!
Thanks for that Peter, I guess everyone is slightly different, I am planning on having a snooze when I get home, did you wear your goggles in bed for 2 weeks????, also how did you clean around your eyes as I have been told you cannot get them wet for 2 weeks:o , do you feel perfectly normal now with your eyes then???
thanksSam B0 -
I had my laser eye surgery 4 years ago (with Ultralase) and I have never looked back!! ('scuse the pun!)
I remember the day very well, I was given eye drops to use every 2 hours for the first day and you do need them as your eyes will sting once the anaesthetic wears off. I had the procedure in the morning, was home by lunchtime, laid on the bed with eyes closed for the remainder of the afternoon, and by 6pm my vision was perfect. I realised this when my OH walked in the room and I could see him clearly without glasses/contact lenses for the first time in years! I did wear the goggles in bed for about a week but got fed up with them & left them off after that, no damage done. Same for the plain glasses, you are only given them in case you inadvertently rub your eyes. You need to use drops for about another 2 weeks but so long as you keep up with your after care appointments there shouldn't be any issues.
I remember having to clean around my eyes with cotton wool and cooled, boiled water every morning (prepared it the night before by boiling the kettle and leaving the boiled water in a cup to cool down) and didn't like having to go without make-up for 2 weeks, but hey, it was worth it for the result.
Had an eye test a few months ago and I still have better than 20:20 vision even after 4 years, so I'm well chuffed. My OH is seriously considering having the procedure since he is fed up with wearing glasses and feels his sight is getting worse.
Good luck, it will be worth all the kerfuffle I promise!! :wave:0 -

Well luvmyfreebies,
It went like this, appointment in Chester got cancelled 3 hours before and had to go to Liverpool which was easier for me.
Waited for ages after having my drops before going into the surgery, then felt nothing with the first eye, but did get an awful pain in my left.
Had a bit of shock afterwards just the shakes and was cold, eyes streamed for about 3 hours and it felt like razor blades in my eyes on and off all night.
When I got up in the morning it was amazing looking out of the window and being able to see car number plates. I had blurry vision in my left eye though.
Went for the check that day and was disturbed to be told to carry on putting the drops in every 2 hours instead of 4 and come back first thing monday morn...... spent the weekend panicking.
Went back today and he said my eye is inflamed and to keep taking the drops every 2 hours and go back thursday they want to keep a check on it.
So I am non the wiser really when he checked my eyes he kept saying are you sure you cant see anything further down the letters I couldn't it was just blurry, I had better not be one of those where it doesnt work properly its just cost me £2700.
I have read it an take a while to reach your correct presciption but I wanted to be one of those that could see perfectly straight away.
I have taken a few more days off work dont want to risk any infection as i am in and outside.
Anyone got any tips or reassurance would be great.....Sam B0 -
Can anyone provide me a link to Optimax offer of pay nothing until 2009 and then have 2 years interest free credit. Seen it advertised on TV this week but having Googled it I see that there were complaints that they were only giving it to customers getting top rate treatment.
Would like to take up offer but would like to have it in writing.
Thanks0
