  • I am booked in with Optimax this week - but now I am considering cancelling and holding out for a better deal. Do you think this would be a good choice?

I've managed to knock them down a little bit, but not as much as I would have liked.

    Any advice would be appreciated!
I don't believe in doing things the easy way..... :)

Also JPUK and others looking at Optimax

I wanted laser eye sight correction

I signed up to several sites because I wanted to make an informed decision, and needed to save the money up! It paid off because I got offered all sorts of discounts.

I found Optimax on eBay, messaged them with queries and had replies from Russell Ambrose the owner himself. He told me I could just quote "eBay offer" when booking and it would be honoured, it was, I consider it an excellent deal, (see my previous post in this thread). However, they do the eBay offer by selling unused appointment slots, I haven't seen any on there for a while, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I have not been disappointed with the treatment despite one eye having a slight scarring, this seems to be clearing slowly, and they have been very good about check-ups etc.

Ultralase bombarded me with offers and put me off with their desperation for my custom, I got another letter this morning!

Optimax are offering £100 on their refer-a-friend, this is a £100 cheque to the person who had treatment and refered them, and £100 off of treatment for NEW CUSTOMERS, people whose details they don't already have. If you want a voucher, message me.

Ultralase have mailed me YET AGAIN http://www.ultralase.com/latest-offers they have some discounts on there. You might find they say you have already booked, you can't get it, threaten to take your business elsewhere, I'm sure they will speak to a manager and change their mind! The other thing to remember is you can get a 10% discount if you are a member of Metbenefits (also known as Oakwood Promotions), which I believe encompasses all of the following
+ RCN - Royal College of Nursing
    + Metropolitan Police
    + Connect
+ BTP - British Transport Police
    + HeyDay
+ PCS - Public and Commercial Services Union
+ SOLACE - Society of Local Authority Chief Executives
+ REPTA - Railway Employees Privilege Ticket Association
+ Transport and General Workers Union

  • Hi all,

Am considering using Optical express Bromley. From what Mutley was saying earlier they quote based on prescription? Anyone have a quote for around -4 both eyes? Just so I know a rough cost to go into it with... £400 for each eye I can stand £3000 total (like some are saying they've been quoted) I can't...

£395 per eye is the basic rate at Optical Express (for the lowest prescription). It goes up in multiples of £100 for each dioptre of prescription.

If you want wavefront, it is an additional £400 per eye.
If you want intralase, is is an addtional £300 per eye.
  • So broadly speaking...

    £400 Basic
    + £400 for prescription
+ £300 for Intralase (if I go that way)

    = Around £1100 per eye

Hmm.... Aaah well, could be back to glasses!

LAS is not cheap. But its up to you really and depends on what and why you really would like your eyes treated so you dont need glasses? I cannot look back at wearing glasses now, it has helped me with sports, self confidence and just 1 less hassle to worry about each day! Optical express allow interest free payments for 10mths, although options may have changed since when i got my eyes done in the summer.

    Hi Janmarie.
I was given some recommend a friend cards. This is how is works:

Basically, I put my name and postcode on the card and give it to a prospective customer.

They make a booking for a free consultation (£30 refundable deposit) and quote the reference number and name of referer.

£100 off and £100 for the referer if bilateral treatment goes ahead.

    Regards,

    Nick.

P.S. If anybody wants a card, feel free to PM me with your address!
  • Hi

I'm -5 and -6 and Optical Express have quoted me £2390 for Intralasik and £3190 for wavefront.

Whats the major difference between the two? Any recommendations?
