Ah right, sorry got confused. I thought you meant the social services/council department, which can be funny sometimes.

I totally disagree. I think it applies to all men!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

We still don't know what that 79 pounds covers do we? I did ask earlier if it could be broken down as I don't think people would be harping on about it quite so much if it was for 2 mobiles, internet and basic satelite but until the OP can clarify this I think people are getting a bit caught up in it.
There are savings to be made but the OP needs 1) to get some food as soon as possible, 2) to get free professioanl advice and 3) a new bank account to get the wages/benefits paid into and decide whether a dmp or bankruptcy are the best way forward. Hopefully then they will be able to take on baord some of the savings suggested in the light of this.

  • Budget I think bankruptcy may be your best option - especially as you are on benefits and even if you have a surplus of 200 pounds a month (maybe more if you can make some of the cutbacks) it will take an awfully long time to pay back 38,000 pounds.
Obviously it depends on your long term health prospects and your OH's financial prospects. That's not to say you couldn't do a DMP if you really wanted to, just that it will take a long time to clear the debts. Anyway I hope National Debtline are able to help you and go through the options with you.
Have you sorted out any food for the next few days?

  • Hi Dancing fairy Have spoken to Sky tonight and now a rundown of what the 79.00 accounts for:
TV package is 38.50 with sky sports without 22.50
    telephone calls 9.12 teenagers!!
    sky talk unlimited 5.00
was billed an extra 12.77 last month for upgrading to sports never again
    total bill 79.00

Should of been 55.50 so thats a saving of 23.50 i think. will be checking this infuture.

been given food parcel from a friend for tomorrow so will see what I have left after that for wednesday did have meal tonight was small as had to spread it but it worked. will also certainly look at reducing groceries more too.

dancing fairy forgot to say that have a meeting with national debt people on 28th to run through costs with us.

Good news I think having spent all day doing this I have managed to suspend a payment of 115.00 this month to be reconsidered after our meeting with NDL on the 28th. so can put that towards scottish power which will clear that and then would be 110.00 better off each month to begin with.

Thankyou for all you support today it has certainly made my OH and Teenagers realise money doesn't grow on trees, Oh they have alot to learn, but then so do I.

Have had more support in one day than I have in my whole life.

budget, are you in contract with Sky, have you had it 12 months? if so, you really need to get rid of the TV package, use the freeview, thats another saving of £38.50 per month.
  • Hi Washer

yes I spoke to sky this evening but we are only half way through the contract which is due to end next march, so were unable to make any moves yet, will also be having a word with kids regarding the phone and their usage.

I thought you could reduce the package though. I have SKY and I have reduced mine, its going in january, because I'm sick of the junk on it, I'd rather read a book.
  • we will relook again in march I know it's along way off but its a start.
