the ptrol costs of 400.00 was for my OH car to get him to and from work each month mine at most 10 pm the satalite includes my telephone as well I have a good deal with them broadband is free

nothing is free and at £79 per month you cannot afford it, you must get rid of cable/sat. I also agree with the second car thing, you cannot afford that either. Petrol costs are very high, can he car share?

I'm speaking from experience here, I've been in a similiar situation years ago, and gosh its hard facing up to the fact you simply cannot afford to have the extras we have all become accustomed too, I had to give up my car, and do you know what, I haven't missed it really, I shop by internet for my groceries and you get use to the fact, I do not know how most people afford a second car...yes I do, because they are in debt thats how. You have taken the first step coming on here, now its time to realise why you are here, and unnecessary expendure has to be dropped, and you will see within a short time the benefits of reducing your outgoings.

A few notes to help you written above. You need to get some proper debt advice from CCCS, payplan or national debtline. Don't bother with any other company who says they can help - they are all in it for profit and will add to your debts.

most importantly, PLEASE don't let your family or yourself go hungry in an effort to pay this back. It is simply not worth it, and you are only delaying the pain by doing so

Add up how many times you go to the hospital. Now add up the car tax, insurance, breakdown cover, maintenance, mot, fuel etc, and I'd be very surprised if it wasn't cheaper to get the bus.

As far as groceries are concerned, you can get free delivery for asda and tescos if use you the voucher board, I don't think I have paid for delivery this year.

£10 off £50 on your first grocery shop XXPD96. just recieved from Healthy living club

Ive just been on the voucher board and here is a £10 off your first shop. If you want to shop via internet and need help, just shout, plenty of us shop with tesco and will help you find your feet.

I've put my thoughts in pink, I think you really need professional advice. Definitely try for DLA again with someone who knows the system to help.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

How much are both cars worth individually? Is your car worth £1100, if so sell it, and then pay provident off. That would free up £180 per month.

EDIT: Better still keep the money to one side, looking at your SOA again, I think you are going to need it, I think bankruptcy is the way forward (do not be scared of that, best speak to CCCS or national debt line.

Have you inputted any figures on the CCCS website at all, what does it recommend?

If you have a Tesco nearby think about a coupon shop. Check out www.couponnet.co.uk and google. Tesco will accept coupons for any product they sell, you don't need to buy that product.

You can find more offers if you trawl around the board here too. Combine that with some yellow label shopping (go about 6pm when bread is heavily discounted) and you could get enough for the next few days.

    All the very best.

  • Updated from information recieved from al of you Have spoken to national debt advice line and have arranged an appointment for the 28th for a home visit, also spoke to Welfare advice services and found out that we are on the only benefits we can be offered, also managed to speak to one of our creditors and have managed an agreement for payments to stop this month and advise them after the visit from the national debt people and work out where to go from here, not brilliant but it's a start thats managed an extra saving of 115.00 this month.

    Well done. With that

    What confuses me is

Are you actually spending £400 on food and therefore running up £500 of extra debt a month, or are you paying the debt and therefore have nothing to eat and are not increasing the debt?

You could do a few things in the short-term.

    1. Go round the house and she if you can find stuff for a car boot sale.

    2. Ask the welfare people at the hospital if you qualify for help with transport costs. If you do, get rid of the car and get taxis and reclaim the cost. You may only need to do that for a year or so to make a difference.

If you reduce your car cost and food costs and can pay off the provident, you could balance this budget.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

What welfare services did you speak to? What made them say you're not entitled to DLA?
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • the welfare services were through my Housing Association and they never said I couldn't apply for DLA that was a seperate enquirey which needds to be re looked at I now have a contact person who will help with the forms, having been misinformed with information in the first place so I need to reapply for this but have to wait 3 months, the extra 500.00 per month is paying debt and not for food will be re looking at this tonight now OH is home to look closer at what we can cut back on it may be easier as he's the more difficult one to deal with (I think it's that male price thingy).
I might at this only applies to the minority of men not all.
