Cheers:beer: for the reply matey, however i do not understand 1 thing with natwest, that is why don't they just make it clear in the first instance that decision is still pending, and also from what you say in your reply makes me reach to the conclusion that they almost bluntly lie to their customers  So much so that the first customer services assistant went as far as telling me that account is now open and i have indeed got the account, only to be told something else by the second one, which leads to nothing but more confusions

Your application will now go to AVU and they will go through your application (CRAs Data) with a magnifying glass and a fine tooth comb. Thats the final stage that could get you a possible decline.

For some reason and christ knows why but the account number gets allocated before the account is even fully opened.

So when you speak to actionline or even sometimes the branch they think oh account number and sort code the account must be open. However this is not the case as 9 times out of 10 the application is still being processed by AVU. Sometimes the system used to process applications (I call it the decision maker) for an account etc throws out a false acceptance. So the system would think yeah this applicant is ok but when they look manually they might find something they don't like then you'll get a decline.

Plus I really wish they would remove this provisionally accepted ;ark off the website at the end of an online applicaton.

Can i dare ask (sorry if sounds daft as i know they are the same company) if this is the procedure only with natwest or does RBS follows the exact same procedure as well

Both plus Ulster all adopt the same approach, in fact so does the Tesco credit card application - anything to do with the RBS brand mate!

I've tried them all and always get accepted with varying limits, only to fail at AVU..... When they start redundancies, I hope they start with AVU in Edinburgh lol

Im just renting at the moment.

However at my age ideally I should just get a mortgage sooner rather than later as renting im just paying dead money.

Mortgage wise I dont think RBS offer a very competitive rate :-S

I see what you mean - at your age? What, at 50 I thought you'd be a tad old for a mortgage mate! lol

RBS don't offer anything competative do they? Although their staff seem quite clued up, maybe time to jump ship and fill the HSBC leavers shoes :D
