Well, dare I say, I had two defaults four years ago, but not with my Step Account which I kept totally in order for the six years I have had it. The defaults did appear on one of the credit reports (cannot remember whether it was Equifax or Experian) but not on the other.

But I was really surprised when the lady in the branch said I will be getting a Full Account with Cheque Book and Cheque Card. I thought I would get the full authorisation visa debit or even another Solo card (albeit they are doing away with Solo).

    Tally

A default stays for 6yrs from the date of default. However, as you've stated - different lenders search different CRA's therefore say you had a default showing on Equifax, if you applied to Natwest you'd probably get accepted because Natwest primarily use Experian. Similarly, if you had a default on Experian, then you'd possibly get accepted for Barclaycard as they use Equifax.

Whats a man have to do to get 3 stars? Will I be credit checked by MSE? lol :D

Witty, I like it mate! I think you need 500 or 750 then you get the next star, after this it may be 2500 or so. Then its 10,000 or similar.....

Wonder if they (MSE) will give you an account - once you get the 3 stars!:beer:

An update, called natwest today regards to my application, the guy on the other side of the line told me that they have received the documents which i have send and is showing in their systems, but they are yet to be scanned into the system and once that is done then i can receive my account no etc, however when i asked him if that means that if i have got the account for sure, he went on to tell me that this is when they complete their additional checks(while scanning the documents in their systems), and if every thing goes well then i should have the account by the end of this week, now don't know what that means !!
  • Well an update re my 'new' upgraded Natwest account.

The cheque book, paying in book and PIN number letter all arrived today. But so far still no debit card has shown up. However on the PIN letter, it does say the card should be sent 'in a few days time'.

I'll just have to wait a few days longer before I get it in my grubby paws!

    Tally
  • I am now in the same position with a RBS credit card I applied for online.

I presumed I had been accepted, as that is what it said on screen, where I was even given a credit limit. But today I received the Credit Agreement where it stated I had been accepted 'in principle' and further checks would have to be done.

Having also checked my credit repotrt they havent even done a credit check yet, so how/why did they even 'accept' me online then?

And there's me thinking I was saying bye to subprime, ha!

    Strange RBS Group....
  • Another update regarding the recent application of my natwest account, called up natwest today and they said that the account has been opened now and to get my account no etc i need to go to the branch with an photo id so that they can identify me before handing my account no etc, and when i asked how come i did not get any welcome pack etc through the post, he said that was due to the postal strike and i will start getting everything soon.
However as unbelievable as it sound i decided to call again to cross verify, and my doubts regarding the previous call was confirmed when the adviser said this time that the account is successfully processed after receiving the signed agreement from me however is now waiting for a final review before they can give me the account no etc.

Now am all confused if I have indeed got the account and if not how likely is it that it still can be declined as they said in the first instance that i have got the account and on the second that it has been processed successfully however is waiting for a final approval

Any suggestions will be great .. Thanks in advance icon7.gif

  • Cheers:beer: for the reply matey, however i do not understand 1 thing with natwest, that is why don't they just make it clear in the first instance that decision is still pending, and also from what you say in your reply makes me reach to the conclusion that they almost bluntly lie to their customers  So much so that the first customer services assistant went as far as telling me that account is now open and i have indeed got the account, only to be told something else by the second one, which leads to nothing but more confusions
