Hugs sweetie, I feel like that tonight too. How old is your DD? I felt better when DS3 said 'come rest with me' at bedtime, he loves somebody to lie with him for a while but then says please go now I want to go to sleep. As I got out DS1 said my turn come lie with me and then DS2 joined us - they are sweet really.

    .

Thats lovely Dusty. My DS likes you to lay with him a little while too. He has been so tired this week he is actually asking to go to bed early.

    Last check in before bed..

I've done 3 loads of HHI which I am really chuffed about. Have just decluttered a syrup sponge pudding and am now catching up on one of the many episodes of The Hairy Bikers Tour of Britain we have V+'ed.

Toots honey, actually the list has nearly all been done now, and tomorrows list is just bitty bits. The dog duvets have to be washed as we are taking them with us on Saturday and I don't fancy any more smelly dog than necessary, in the car..lol I am actually really chuffed with myself. It's so scary that I have even put my pink mac on a sports wash so that it is all clean and dry for Saturday. It's a lovely bright pink Asda mac that I got last year, but I noticed that it was a bit grubby and I hadn't got round to washing it during the summer..

Piggers - how small on the % graph are kids when they put them on growth hormones? How much do they hope they will increase the growth by and what are the side effects? Thanks I know you will know this font of all knowledge.

they have to be consistently below the 0.4th centile over a year at least.. and grow less than 6cm in a year (normal non-pubescent children grow about 10cm a year) They also have to have a series of blood tests and xrays.. plus the horrid bloods.. they OD them on glucose then basically they aren't allowed to eat and when the blood sugars drop to a certain level the growth hormone is produced.. in effect they become hypoglycaemic.. like diabetics.. it is really nasty.. DS2 gave them a big scare because they couldn't get his blood sugars back to normal.. the nurse who does these tests week after week paged the consultant and called for back-up.

Plus.. it has to be started between the ages of 8 and the onset of puberty.. after this point it has negligible effect. DS2 started his just before his 8th birthday and is now 13.5 and he is wearing clothes for his age now.. at 7 he was wearing age 4-5. DD4 is almost 7 and wearing age 4-5.. but.. it matters less if girls are little as far as society is concerned so I may not be bothering with the growth hormone for her.. I'm waiting to get a reasonable idea of what her predicted adult height will be.. for DS2 they said 4ft10-5ft2 ... DS1 is about 5ft 7.. It isn't like I am from a family of giants.

They do a catch up growth for the first 6 months and then grow at a normal rate.. side effects.. joint pain, muscle pain, headaches, hard lumps at injection sites, risk of infection if they don't clean their hands etc before injecting.. all good stuff.

  • Just touched on this thread for the first time, amazed, and before I slink away with a red face, realising I am actually even more of a slob than I already knew, please someone explain how to do that 'crossing through' of something on a list? Not that I'll be making a housework list... clutter is my 'comfort blanket', as long as the worktops and loos are clean the rest will wait! And cleaning the windows would only make it rain.

Twiglet - When you have typed something and you want to strike it out, look just above the box you are typing in and you will see a row of symbols that starts with a BI and U. At the end of that row there is a square with [STRIKE]S[/STRIKE].

Just highlight the text you want to strike out and press that box. On your screen you will then see [ STRIKE]your text [/STRIKE ] but when you have sent your message it will show the text just crossed out.

Will be back shortly-ish with my list once I have had a big cup of tea.

    Morning ladies!

Pigpen - thank you for those kind words. I could probably cope better but my mum and sister are very close and this means I haven't been allowed to see my darling nephews for 2 years now and I miss them very much.
Rosepink - Thank you thank you thank you, they got here safely! :T:A
Funfair - that is terrible, hope your son feels better today
zoelikesjam - Easy biscuits if you are still looking for ideas -
Divas' cheap and easy chocolate cookies
    4oz/125g butter

    2oz/75g caster sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla essence plus a drop or two!
    3 1/2oz/110g plain flour
1/2 oz/15g cocoa powder (real cocoa powder and not a substitute as they won't taste as good)
    Milk to bind
    • Cream the butter and sugar together, adding the vanilla essence until the whole mixture is light and fluffy.
    • Sieve the flour and cocoa powder into the butter and sugar mixture and then stir in.
    • Drop teaspoons of the mixture onto a baking sheet. This makes about 15 - 18.
    • Bake in a fairly hot oven Gas mark 5 or 375f for about 15 mins or so.
    • Leave on the tray to cool for a min or so before moving to a wire rack.

    Darn the ripped sheet
    Edge the muslin cloths
Make a Get Well Soon card
    Post on gardening Forum
