Greenbee - sorry to be nosy, but I'm getting a bit confused (what do you mean 'only a bit')
Is this you starting the new job in a week? Are you moving house as well - seemed to notice plans for moving stuff?

Only a bit what? Sorry... couldn't work that out! Hope your headache goes soon. Try sitting down with a cup of tea/coffee/glass of water as appropriate.

I'm starting the new job in a week (well, just over... Tuesday 29th). I'm not moving house, but I am finally moving the excess furniture out of my garage and back to my parents house (it'll be nice and warm and dry there... I'm sure they won't mind!). I'm getting quotes for various bits of work, as I'm going to spend part of my redundancy money on getting things done to the house and garden. Obviously I'll save some of it too...

I've done the mowing back and front (it was very long, so took AGES!). I've also chopped down most of the eucalyptus at the front (the rest needs a saw, so I'll do that later). If anyone knows how I can kill it I'd be very grateful for advice! And I cut back quite a bit of the philadelphus that was growing over the path.

I have lots of lovely plants in my garden, but most of them are in the wrong places... things grow big here as I've got clay soil. My japanese anemones are 7 feet tall!

Suppose I should go and do some cooking seeing as I have so much food to get sorted out...

Valli that was a silly thing to do. I remember years ago ironing my shirt for work in my bra and i burnt my tum with the jet of steam !!

I used my new knives today and they were great and i did not cut myself !!!

Had chicken dinner today with all the trimmings it was nice. My mate came round this afternoon with his little girl.

Rach Greenbee i prefer my mates who have no kids to come here as if we go somewhere else we have to take a bag of toys drinks in suitable containers (spill proof) and a change of clothes.
As the kids get bigger it gets easier but i am always on edge when i visit my child free friends as i don't want my son to ruin or break anything.
I know its a pain to visit your mates with kids but it is so much easier if we can be at home and get the kids to bed and keep to a bit of a routine. Stops the little darlings from turning into monsters when they are bored, tired or hungry.

I am always on edge when in someone elses house GB you have seen my little monster you know what i mean !!!
