  • 5020 would be my guesstimate
  • Ok so I am going to put myself into a relaxed state as the people did on Derren Brown and will put my hand over the number pad and see what it types. You can interpret it however you would like...

  • I'll go for 5500.
    1) Recession over, though quite a bit of mopping up to do.
    2) Confidence slowly returning.
    3) A lot of money around looking for a good home.
    4) A half sane president in USA for a change so, hopefully, no crazy wars.
5)Middle East showing some slight improvement.

I have written the answer down (honest) but I will only reveal it at the end of the year right? This would be consistent with Darren Brown's methods.;)
  • I'll go with 4500 just because thats my long term guess though right now it would appear we will close higher then that, alot can change in 3 months.
The 50 day moving average is around that figure if it helps add any reasoning :D

where we place the FTSE at the end of the year.

The original question was: “what is the lowest you think the FTSE will fall to before a recovery starts?” The supplementary question is: “where we place the FTSE at the end of the year?”

Does the wisdom of crowd believe that the FTSE has reached its low point and that it is now recovering? Your supplementary question appears to show that you do. I have been reading articles and opinions every day for the past two weeks and I have formed the view that the consensus amongst the ‘experts’ is that there will be a double dip (with co consensus on whether the next dip will be lower than the first) and that the second dip will come during the winter.
