Has anyone had a hysterectomy?

I had the op at 36 too, I had suffered from several problems including pre cancerous changes to my cervix. I had 3 months off work and I slept for the first 6 weeks but after that I recovered well. Never had any HRT and I went straight into menopause but no adverse efffect on my life at all in fact just the opposite...0

Thank you so much for posting, I am still quite scared but have stopped reading the horror stories on the web! I am lucky that I can keep my ovaries, I asked my doc if I could keep my cervix (as I believe this has a lot to do with "pleasure" during sex) but he said a bit NO NO..... I feel a bit depressed again!0

you still have your overies ? could be that you need some testing done like me i had my overies left too
Yeah, I do still have mine, I have had - oh how do I explain it decently lol - breast tenderness etc that you normally get when it's your Lady Time.
I might gp see my nurse at the surgery, my doc is inept to put it mildly, bless him though.
Bebsie, don't worry about not having a cervix it won't make any difference to you honest!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

....... have been going to the gym a lot and getting my body really healthy......
A good idea as recovery will be better & quicker if you have good muscle tone
I’m just a bloke but I thought the cervix was almost free of nerve endings so wouldn’t contribute much in the sexual pleasure stakes (but I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon)0 -
lol My cervix was removed and for a long while after, I coulnt understand why I needed the loo so much when getting intimate..
then I realised...... my bladder was in the way! pmsl0 -

lol its ok now! I had never really thought about the fact that to some extent I had an empty void for a while whilst my body adjusted itself and moved around a bit and mt bladder dropped into its new home!..
to be honest though, it really is better..... every person who has contributed to the thread has also said some very poritive things about their experiences.
In my case, I would have gladly given up my sex life to lead a normal and healthy life, which is what my hysterecomy gave me.. a new lease of life:j0 -
I must be very unlucky........I don't really want to go into it but I just wanted to say that I haven't had a hysto but I have lost my cervix to cancer and my sex life has changed. Or rather the feelings I get (don't get anymore) during sex have changed
Having said that, lack of feeling downstairs is better than not being here at all so it's all good:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
