  • Just done my 3rd lot of washing and going to put it on the line.
Feel tired after swimming (and being up early) but I need to crack on. Weekends I feel like a tread water rather than making any progress :(

Pen-pin - Very sorry about your sick relative. We had a similar sort of visit like this several years ago with H's cousin. She'd been given a week to live (although she lasted 5) and going down to say goodbye (which we really didn't want to) was one of the hardest things I've done. I know how draining it feels so a massive hug for you xx

Helyg - I hope you are able to get to the bottom of your son's behaviour x

    Hi all

I hope you don't mind if I join in a little..

Did a little bit too much at the allotment yesterday so feeling a bit sore today, will put off todays visit until later in the week.

While I was at the allotment yesterday my daughter cleared out the airing cupboard for me, so last night we sat and sorted out all the old sheets/towels/etc. I now have a huge bag to be used as dusters/rags/stuffing for draught excluders :)

Washing machine is on its 4th load and flat looks like a chinese laundry (we have no outside drying facilities), there are clothes hanging on coat hangers drying in front of open windows as well as on the clothes airer. Must remember to talk to my neighbour to see how she got on asking the Council if we could fence off the area behind our flats so that we could put a couple of lines/rotary driers up.

Have made nutty flapjacks for daughters snacks this week, also made a bacon/red onion/green pepper quiche for my lunches and 5 mini quiches with the left over filling and pastry. Will portion up quiche later and freeze in individual slices ready to grab out for work lunches.

Dinner is going to be moroccan lamb chops with couscous (will add some ready to eat apricots/red onions/flaked almonds/maybe some chickpeas/home grown cherry toms, harissa paste and lots and lots of mint...hopefully it will taste kinda moroccan-ish lol).

Sitting down with a well deserved cuppa now!

Hugs to all who need them.
  • Good Afternoon chums ,alls well in my world atm, just going to make some curry for the freezer to use up my left over chicken Thanks for the recipe for Jam Drops Ausielass it has gone into 'my misers' cook book on my computer. It looks like something my grandchildren would like to make nice and easy and hopefully not too messy. I'm off to my DDs later this afternoon for dinner and to play with the tribe. My dgd bless her went up to Oxford with her Dad yesterday to see her Nan in the hospice, and she sadly died last night so I guess she will want a cuddle when she gets home this afternoon. Poor Katie, and she was so buzzy this week as she starts college next week. My DD and I will make a fuss of her when she gets home and I hope her little brothers will do the same.Katie is my DDs daughter from her first marriage, which sadly ended when Katie was only 9 months old .But she has had contact with her Dad and Nanny for the past 15 years so she will be upset. It's hard to know what to say to her really but I expect a big cuddle will help.
Well, off to do some cooking, not so bright here as yesterday, but not cold, just a bit overcast.Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

Sorry to hear you're feeling low PP :( Happy belated birthday though :)

    Hi, Mythi  Welcome.

Helyg, it must be a frustrating time for you re your son, but hopefully you will get to the bottom of it. Are the school supporting you. or do you have anyone who can, whilst the referrals take place?

DDs made Bruce Bogtrotter's chocolate cake today - very very chocolatey :)

  • Afternoon all :)

I haven't been on the thread for a (long) while, but I just had to post, and this seemed the best place for it.

My sons are going OS :D :j

Eldest is 8, and the middle one is 6 next week, and the list of after school clubs came out last week - it's a new school for us, and I've never seen so many options. Anyway, rather than the football, rugby, golf, fencing, horse riding(!), ICT, Art etc, they chose - wait for it - Gardening and Cookery *thud*.

I think I've said 'on MSE/on the OS board ...' so many times, and muttered and mumbled about doing more baking and growing more veg, that something's actually seeped in through the mists of Ben10 and Transformers :T

I'm quite looking forward to the odd home cooked pudding that I haven't been involved with, or bag of veg - might even have to set them homework :rotfl:

  • I've had quite a lazy day so far, but a good one nonetheless. DH has just popped out, so I've popped on here to see how everyone is doing :) I've just made a batch of dough ready to make tortilla flatbreads (it's just resting at the mo) and the smells from the slow cooker have been delish all day! I'm looking forward to cooking the flatbreads as it is something I've never done before. Open mind, let's go :D

Back to work tomorrow after the weekend and I can't really say I'm feeling refreshed, but c'est la vie. I'm thinking of starting a pot on my desk for a "Dream" pot - the things I could do with such and such amount. Ah, well, other things take priority until then!

I can't wait til DH gets back so I can show off the flatbreads. (I know, I'm a bit sad really!). I hope everyone has a lovely evening

    Afternoon peeps

i`m very late on here today as i`m at w*rk and it has been rather hectic, good news though........... i have six days off as of 11o`clock ish tonight :j

This morning i have scrubbed the kitchen and waved DH and the houndies off on their fishing trip - just me and my little cuddly black cat tonight so i can see me opening the brandy bottle later :D

I took advantage of no one in the way IYKWIM and got out my tape measure and moved some furniture, i have been saving for a new suite for the living room but although the fund is still only quite small i may be able to take advantage of an interest free offer and order one sooner rather than later. I have seen one that i like and it`s in the sale at a local shop - in fact as soon as the shop opened this morning i was in there laid on the sofa :D the sales guy was quite amused but as i explained i like to stretch out when i`m at home :o I`ll think about it and go back tomorrow for a second look. The sale ends tomorrow so i won`t decide until i`ve tallied my pot up and looked at my options. My old suite is around 19 years old and is no longer looking it`s best so a new one is inevitable at some stage.

HelyG - I hope that you manage to sort out everything re your son ((HUGS))

Earth Mother - The *thud* really made me laugh, great news re your sons choices.

    Mythi / Flutterbyuk- Welcome :hello:

Maitaine - Your house sounds wonderful, i hope that you are very happy there.

Lamewolf / Rosyred - Happy Anniversary to you both and your DH`s :happylove:love: Hope that you have all enjoyed your day.

Best go and do some w*rk, my break has flown by

    Have a good evening everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
