The worst thing is I adore my boy more than the world but I can never fully reach him no matter how hard I try....there is always a wall there that I cant get through.
Well there's normal and then there's normal. Remember that even if he wasn't autistic, he would not always like the same things as other children. My friends son loves going to the theatre and the circus. Mine lasted 20 minutes in the theatre before saying it was boring and could we go, and also flatly refused to go to the circus. My friends have children who fly abroad on their holidays - mine can't sit still and hates the heat, so we go to Center Parcs in the lakes. An hour and a half in a straight line up the motorway, and plenty of shade and a cabin of our own when we arrive (that's if the sun shines at all). I ordered an easy going smiley little chap when I was pregnant, but it just didn't happen
I need to hoover round and have a quick tidy up today. All the really big stuff will be left until next week when ds is at school and I can concentrate properly.
Take care all of you0 -
Morning all - kids are off to church with Grandma and Grandpa today - DS has to sit with the beavers for the first time!! He's really excited.
Just making toast for them and OH, then OH and I are off to local car boot to have a dig around - then back home and the asda shop - bought meat from the market yesterday and was really chuffed with the quality and amount I got - did help that it was 4:30 in the PM!!
Bit of housework and ironing later - and the start of rubber chicken!!
Must get that WM on and hang up as its a nice day.

Morning all
I didn't get much housework done yesterday, but did get to the butchers, also sorted freezers out, I have 2 little 4 drawer ones. I also rebagged all the meat from the butchers & made debris soup, broccoli/cauli & stilton soup, sausage rolls etc from various leftovers.
Roast beef today with all the trimmings & lots of housework, I promise, lol.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Aussie - we have just started getting the cookery programme - 4 Ingredients - over here - lol those blondes make me laugh - is it popular over there??
Not sunny here in Essex at the moment but that doesnt matter too much as shall be spending a large proportion of the day ironing  at least will catch up with sky+ including the last economy gastromony.
M&S chicken for lunch with all the trimmings, havnt actually had a roast chicken for ages - needless to say stock will be made at some point next week.
Have a small amount of paperwork to do at some point as OH is off to work v early in the morning. Also will def plant our spring bulbs & maybe buy some more.
Have a great Sunday.x0 -
Morning, everyone
Just having a bit of a sit down between the morning's tea prep and doing the ironing. DH is washing the car and I'm having a bit of a mini dream about owning a farm... how nice that would be.
Anyway, the day looks like being a bit cooler than yesterday, which is nice. My hands are covered in tiny scratches from the blackberrying, and I've had to squeeze a lemon and a lime this morning - ouch! There's a pork shoulder in the slow cooker with some lager, lemon and lime (and garlic, onion and herbs) to make some shredded pork rolls for tonight's tea, and if the ironing isn't too heavy going I might make a cake. It depends, as I think I need to buy SR Flour. I've also portioned up the leftovers from last night's lasagne (it make loads!) and put that into the freezer, so I feel my OSiness is quite good so far today
Hope everyone has a lovely day

Morning all
Quite a pleasant day out this morning, so hopefully we can proceed with our planned barbecue, in honour of Roald Dahl's birthdayAny excuse for friends to get together
Plus, we've been looking at Dahl's work quite a bit lately, so will bring a nice end to the topic for DDs.
Have had a few aches and pains the last couple of days, so haven't posted, but mse seems to move so quickly, that there was plenty to read.
We went to a WWII by candlelight event on Thursday evening, which was fantastic. We were given a ration book, and could sample some war-time delights in the canteen. Woolten pie is definitely something we will make at home  DD2 really enjoyed her spam sandwiches, and I'm sure she snuck an extra ration book, as she ended up with a few of them
I've a load that needs to go into the machine today, but haven't got much planned as I dont have a lot energy to spare, so may as well enjoy the sunshine instead! There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
Essexgirl We don't get the programme at all but I know of the recipe books your talking about. DD bought I think the 4 ingred one ages ago and I remember browsing through it. It was OK. Like good for blokes or really basic cooks. Lot of processed food. You know, 1 tin of soup, 1 tin of mushroom, etc etc. The show must be aimed at overseas audiences as it hasn't been aired here.
Ruby I"m definately coming over unless I drop dead in the meantime. Tickets paid for. Wild horses wouldn't keep me away. Pass on the poisonous fish.Jam drops are biscuits. I'm sure you;d have the recipe but here goes. They are lovely, if I don't mind saying.
pipkin That sounded really great. I've never been game enough to taste spam. The tin puts me off.
Jam Drops
180g butter, softened
1 egg
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup SR flour
1 1/2 cup Plain flour
chocolate freckles or jam
Beat butter & sugar until creamy. Add egg. Sift in flours & mix to form a dough. Roll into balls & flatten with your thumb in the middle. Place a freckle or jam in the hole. Bake 12 mins in moderate oven.
Just in case nobody knows what freckles are  they are chocolate lollies with hundreds & thousands on top.Sorry about the cup measurements but use any cup. Don't think it will matter that much.
Off to have a shower and watch Who Do You Think You Are? Starts in 1/2 hour. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0
