Back in 2005 I lost 4 stone from using Rosemary Conley's magazines and signed up for the 12 months of magazines through the door for inspiration and receipes. it was great to lose the weight for my wedding. 2yrs on I was pregnant and put on weight as I started to eat what I wanted and it was a good excuse. Now in 2009 when DD is 2 I am getting my head into gear to lose 2 stone and get back to my wedding day weight. I have managed to lose 10lbs so far and will continue to do this on my own but doing it the rosemary conley way. Good luck and hope you achieve your own goal.MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46

thanks for all the helpful comments this is going to be difficult in some way as i suffer with OCD, everything i do is done to a specific routine and keeps me within my comfort zone
i'ver tried both the gym and diets before but soon given up due the impact it had on my OCD, i know i have to change in order to lose weight but change is my biggest fear as it means me having to come out of my comfort zone
you've al given me something to think about
ta very much0 -
Why not come over and join us on the Losing Weight thread on MSE? We're a very supportive bunch, who are losing weight using a variety of different plans, ie. calorie counting, Weight Watchers (some at clubs, some online, some just on their own, but following the plan), Slimming World, Rosemary Conley, etc.
We encourage one another, congratulate and commiserate. What we tend to find is that a successful weight loss is often fought more in the mind, than it is in the eating.
Why not nip over and have a look at what goes on (quite a bit of banter helps, we find). My one bit of advice would be to contribute often, ideally daily, keep a food diary, use a smaller plate to reduce your portion size, and increase the amount of healthy foods you eat.

i need to try and explain my ocd part of my ocd means we have the same meals every week for example monday chilli + rice - tuesday veggie sausage with hash brown - wednesday fish pie + chips - thursday - salmon + pasta etc etc we have these meals week in week out
to change the meals means having to come out of my comfort zone ie facing change which is almost impossible i'm not seeking help with my ocd here i have help within the nhs for that but just trying to explain the difficulty i have with any kind of change
ta tho for your help and advice0 -
I have just lost three stone ( although i have another 3st to loose hopefully) the way i have done it is just to watch the fat content in every meal ,keep it really low, loads of food have liitle fat i am also vegetarian so lots of quorn products are low ,just add veg and a really low fat meal. Then if all my meals are very low fat i don't feel too guilty when my son opens a toffee crisp and does,nt want it as long as it only happens once in every 3 or 4 days or so i don't feel like too much of a failure and i keep going.
I also have a treadmill in my garage and take my dogs for much longer walks
so that helps.
I just keep fingers crossed because although i have lost weight quite quickly and easily as soon as i go back to my old eating habits ( which i usually do sooner or later) i will put on welght again.
But maybe this time i can do it ,i hope so anyway.0 -
why not start off changing one thng at a time .. eg instead of having fish pie and chips have it with vegetables then another week change the salmon and pasta to salmon and salad... if u make one change a week (or slower) u will soon be changing your eating habits and hopefully losing weight

To keep weight off you need to lose about 2LB a week.....if you start losing alot in a short period of time you will just end up putting it back on again (and some more).....the proof in that is look at yo yo dieters
YOu don't need to fork money out to lose weight......things like weight watchers etc feed on peoples lack of knowledge (or laziness) on how to actually eat properly. all the info you need to eat properly can be sort COMPLETELY free off the internet using google (even the Gov's own website will tell you) so don't waste your money on weight watchers etc.
you don't have to eat less food (I eat a hell of a lot of food but now I eat the RIGHT food and have still lost over 2 stone since june)
its all about REPLACING bad food with good
Eat 6 smaller meals a day rather than 3 large ones (this way you never go hungry)
Replace snacks like choc etc with fruit or raw veg (apples are sweet, raw carrots etc)
Eat fruit prior to a meal......along with drinking water/fruit juice etc
The big thing is if you are Hungry then EAT.....but EAT good food....fruit etc
You DON'T need to cut down on food just simply replace bad with good
You DON'T need to run/cycle/swim miles a simple 30 min brisk walk every day with have the same effect. If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
If I knew the answer I would be 9 stone instead of 11 stone.
The usual advice is eat less and exercise more. Don't overdo the fats and carbs, eat plenty of fruit and vegs and make sure you go to the loo regularly without the use of laxatives.
Constipation tends to make people gain weight (sorry to be so graphic).
When I was younger, I am sure my metabolism was faster so didn't gain weight, so age will have a bearing.
I tried a carb free/Atkins diet and it made me feel ill, but a little carb helped again but overdoing carbs makes me tired.
Also, there is a psychological reason why people eat too much of the 'wrong' food for them. Address this and there will be less need to reach for comfort food and the weight should naturally reduce. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:
